Re: Blizzcon Live blogspam '11

There are a lot of people who seem to be excited for the expansion.

What about his expansion makes you think "kiddy"? Is it the pandas? I know a lot of people who think dragons are kiddy creatures.

Yeah there are people who are excited about it, it's an expansion pack, everyone who plays the game is SUPPOSED to be excited about it, and previous expansion packs it was darn near 100%, so even if it's 50/50 excited/disappointed that's still a huge issue. I will be curious to see the sales number of this xpac vs. the previous ones, a major drop off wouldn't be surprising to me.

The Panda's don't HAVE to be kiddy I guess, the Tauren are in the game and they aren't kiddy, but the art of them as well as the skills (bounce!) indicate a kiddy direction.

Nobody is saying WoW never had slightly absurd or kiddy stuff in it or humor in it before, but there's no denying this xpac is taking it to another level.

pokemon

'nuff said

I mean, this game has been around for a while. There's only so much you do with one idea before it looks like some frankenstein version of your original idea.

I'm sure I'll buy and play it, but it does seem like some really weird design choices.

my guild used to joke about how wow was turning into world of carebears....weird.
anyway hopefully monks dont ruin the first season or 2 of pvp like dks did. Doubt ill come back to the game for this xpac though, but really looking forward to seeing what titan is going to be like.

Re: Blizzcon Live blogspam '11

jfc panads are gonna be so OP

Epicurean
Increases the stat benefits from food by 100%

This alone will be the main reason Panada will dominate raids, IMO. Assuming there is a food buff, right now, with a feast, you can get a 90 INT buff casters. So, you're basically talking what will end up as a 200+ INT food buff? Yes please.

Also, it looks like the monk class will be able to be chosen by all races, with the exception of the Cata races (worgen/goblins)

Thought excluding cata races was odd.

And they said they were gonna look at all racials, so I assume they will balance them in the same way profession buffs are balanced.

The announcers for Live raid have no idea what they're talking about. It's like they don't even play wow.

Did I hear that there will be no auto attack in the next expansion?

Just for the new Monk class (but they also said it was possible even that would change and I personally expect it will as the mechanic sounds quite unfun).

Speaking as someone who quit WoW for good (sold account to prevent temptation) I think that these additions are a BRILLIANT business move.

I predict that this pokemon style pet battling system results in a MASSSSSSIVE increase in subscribers. It's a game within a game. Arenas are too twitchy and skill-based for casuals. But turn based pokemon is PERFECT for them.

The game has jumped the shark in terms of lore and features, but this was a home run for the business side of things.

Well done, Blizzard.

Turn based? Not really interested in having to make/buy/steal a pokemon bot or play against them.

It's a cool thing for them to add to the game. It doesn't sound like it's going to affect end-game raiding so there are no any min/maxing ramifications to deal with. I have some favorite pets that I'm looking forward to battling just to see how the system works. I'm actually afraid that it's going to be really really fun.

From the Blizzard Q&A:

Quote:
Why does Ghostcrawler hate paladins?
A ret paladin killed his parents.

No, Alliance gets bad pandas and Horde gets good pandas...

Horde are the good guys in this game. This entire conflict started cause those ******* Alliance types wouldn't share some land with our people who were refugees from a world being destroyed by demons IMO.

Pretty sure I've fished up Mr. Pinchy on 2 characters. I will be very happy to use him in pet battles from my Panda Monk!

Things like the 100 pets aren't going to be nearly as tough when you have all your toons helping you out.

Casters don't really have an autoattack either.

You can get it as a random drop from the same mobs as Horde too.
