Can you shatter Maelstroms now?

Yes, just have to train it at the trainer

Unfortunately it looks like everyone else realized this too, so all my stuff is getting almost instantly undercut. Not sure if I'll actually be able to sell any

I was able to do 525-535 in enchanting off this and make a nice profit. Looks like my server hasn't caught on yet to this.

Well this is weird. Now heavenly shards are about the same price as before, roughly 90-100g. But maelstroms got jacked up to about 180g.

Maelstroms will prob drop back down once people have all the gear they want from the new heroics.

Well everyone who's DEing old equipment was going to flood the market the first few days. I'm lucky enough that shards and maelstroms are sitting at close to the same price.

Gem market is ridiculously inflated on my server now. But the ore is crazy now too, so I don't know if it would even be profitable to buy ore to prospect. At the very least I think the risk would be way too big compared to the potential profit. I guess this means I have to level my miner and start farming ore for myself..? Who wants to take a look at my server economy and help me figure out how to make gold now? For the time being there's still about 25g profit per maelstrom to buy maelstroms and shatter them (and heavenly shards are still getting bought up, I put up 10 yesterday, 20 the day before, and 20 the day before that, and they were all bought. So I mean that's like 1250 profit, not too bad, but I doubt that's gonna stick around for much longer.)

I know there was long maintenance today and the economy can be pretty screwed up right after maintenance days, but even before this it didn't look like going the buy ore->prospect ore->sell gems route was gonna be profitable enough to be worth the risk.

Do you have ore crusher? It's a great addon that will tell you the maximum you can pay for gems based on the ore, gem, and enchanting market. Ore on my server is currently selling for ~100g a stack, but each stack is worth about 250g once processed.

Nope, I'll grab that and take a look, thanks.

Actually I took a look, and with transmute mastery, my breakeven point is 350g.

Yeah I'm probably gonna wish I still had access to my alchemist. I guess I could always get someone to help me move stuff between factions, but meh, there's probably only 1 person I would really trust to actually do that since I know him irl, and he barely ever plays at all.

Alchemy is still pretty cheap to level to max, so if you have a toon with a spare slot you can max it out in an couple hours for about 6k gold.

Once my DK hits 70, I think I'mma learn mining/JC, which, once maxed, would give me an alchemist, enchanter, scribe, JCer, miner, and herbalist.

I should be overwhelmingly rich, right?

Eh can't get this Ore Crusher thing to work. I set my price database as Auctionator (only auction house addon I have right now), but it keeps telling me it can't find the selected addon when I click the do it button. Does it not work with Auctionator or something?

nvm, grabbed Ore Crusher 2 and it works fine

It's moot at the moment though, because there's a total of maybe 10 full stacks of obsidium, elementium, and pyrite ore combined on the AH right now

Jewelcrafting is a long slog to learn all the recipes. I make a lot of gold from it, but I think there are maybe only one or two other people on my server that have all the pre-4.3 recipes.

But I just hit 1.4m gold. 200k gold in the last week.

Still can't believe I got 4k gold from a damn DMF drop in a dungeon.

Oh, and I only plan to learn cuts that will help my agility-wearing toons. And maybe eventually my DK. I tend to only use toons to make life in WoW as cost-free as possible.

I tend to be so lazy that I will pay my competitor's prices for gems and enchant scrolls when I'm on an alt because I don't want to make a list of what I need and logon to my enchanter/jc.

I do like the new wowarmory feature of being able to search your toon's profs, so I never have to log onto my scribe to see if I have a glyph

Wow ok, thank you SO much for mentioning Ore Crusher. It looks like I can still very profitably buy ore to prospect even though stacks are 100g+, since everything else is so inflated too.

Still a little nervous about this though, just bought about 15k worth of ore, so if the gem/enchant market crashes in the next week or 2 for some reason that'll suck

I assume you are using the release version. If you go on their site, you can get the beta which works for 4.3.

I would recommend auctionator at the very least in the interim.

Getting ready to roll up a new toon on Illidan. Not sure if I'm going to roll a DK so I can level up faster or start from scratch. Anyway, of the three gathering professions, mining, herbalism, and skinning, which two of the three have the highest returns? I know skinning is a bigger PITA because you have to kill a mob before you can do it as opposed to just running around. Any data on this?

Collecting herbs and mining nodes will grant XP so if speed it the main thing for you then those two are likely best.

At the start of cata I created a DK to farm while prices were really high and it went from lv80-83 just from herbs/ore in deepholm

Haven't played since WOTLK, but I'm curious, is there any way to make enchanting a more passive source of income? I just always get the guild chanter to do it for me during raid times and I've never really paid someone to do it. I can't stare at a chatbox to make gold in this game, it's like physically impossible.

Lol actually once I got someone to pay me for the privilege of enchanting my gear, but I knew they needed the skillups more than I needed the chant, so I said, "My mats, but you pay me 5g."
