Re: August of wind clearing the Mists and revealing Pandaria - LC Thread

Wow, I really have to just take over anything related to the guild that goes in writing. I guess I haven't been paying much attention up to this point, but everything the GM writes is in broken English. Not like Engrish, but more like "I haven't taken an English class since 5th grade". This goes for EVERYTHING that he writes. Some of it is nitpicky stuff, like missing commas and the like (though to be fair, when it's bad enough that I notice, it usually means the sentence should've had multiple commas. So it's not like I'm crying over one missed comma). But some of it is entire sentences that just don't make sense and/or force me to read them multiple times until I understand them.

From a thread he made on our forums about one of the bosses in MoP:

Quote:
DPS stays spread for best I can tell except for when cobalt is gaining energy we will have to see about this and add to it during test.
..huh? I mean I think I get the gist of what he's trying to say here, but how does this combination words make perfect sense in his head? And I legitimately don't know what "add to it during test" means. Add what to what?

This makes me wonder if his horrible English skills might have scared away some potential recruits when he posts in their threads. I'm pretty sure if I read anything he wrote before joining, I probably would've had second thoughts..am I looking into this way too much or do I have a legitimate complaint/concern?

Re: August of wind clearing the Mists and revealing Pandaria - LC Thread

Why do none of the starting areas have a "X number of Quests completed" achievement? I did all but 1 quest in the Blood Elf starting area (no flying mounts) to build rep but also thinking that I'd get a shiny achievement. But apparently there is no achievement for that. wtf?

if you're doing # of quests ach, you could always track it to make sure your number is increasing.

Not a bad idea. Could really put of some intelligent players to see careless mistakes like that.

Then again, it is the internet, and it's incredibly easy to leave off entire. So maybe he needs some slack. But you can always check the recruitment forums to see if people that are being approved are not actually trying out?

Pretty much the only people that get approved are people we actively sought out. Besides me, I think there's only 1 other person in the past 10 months that was approved that we didn't specifically recruit. So I'm just wondering if some of the times when we're looking for a specific spec and he goes around posting in their threads, if he had any broken English in those posts and if that potentially scared anyone away. The standard copy-paste looks mostly right, though there are a few sentences that don't really sound quite right.

At the same time, I realize this is the internet, and it's easy to think faster than you're typing and miss something, so that's why I don't know if I'm looking into this way too much. His posts just typically don't look like something you would expect from a guild leader though, and when that's the first impression people get of the guild, I feel like that could potentially scare some people away.

Re: August of wind clearing the Mists and revealing Pandaria - LC Thread

I know an issue we had in the past was that one of the non-raiding friends of the guild was something of a know-it-all and made it a point to post in nearly every recruitment thread. From the sound of it, your GM is kinda similar, and also doesn't seem to know a whole lot. That could be an issue.

So instead of filling with complete pugs, if anyone here is interested and can be 90 quickly, we might be able to get something going. No promises though. We've got about 4-5ish people that want to do stuff if they ever open the raids up outside of the testing period stuff
I have two 90s on beta , both DPS (one mage and one warlock) . I am not an incredibly experienced raider but have been getting into raiding over the last month or so . Nothing great in DS , have killed everything on 10 man normal and have killed heroic morchok but that is all in heroics. If you guys happen to need an extra dps who will listen to instructions at least then holla .

On alliance and Lost Isles? I don't know if they'll let you do cross-realm raids if/when they open them up permanently, so you might need to be on Lost Isles. We'll definitely count you in if they ever open stuff up.

On a different note, it looks like we're not doing no nerf tomorrow, we're selling **** instead. I mentioned a few days ago that with the announcement of MoP and the likelihood that the drop rate will reduce to 1% that we should try to sell a couple mounts before that happens. The timing was perfect, because there was 2 people interested within a couple hours after they made the thread, way more than we had back in April when we tried to start selling ****

That was an interesting DS group last night. LK and I ended up in the same pug. It was half a guild run and the RL claimed he was "retard proofing" it. What his criteria was for that I am not sure. So we kill the first boss and I win the shoulders off Morchok. The raid jumps down my throat about out rolling the guild's Lock who's wearing 333 shoulders. I give up the shoulders thinking it might be good karma for when the Staff off DW drops. I then get to listen to the RL (rogue) whine about my DPS being too low for my ilvl.

But apparently the RL didn't idiot proof the raid enough because our Shaman died repeatedly to the Ultraxion mechanic. After the second wipe we bid them good luck.

I nothing else I got a Lava Coral out of it.
