Howdy. Since I tried and failed quite impressively to start a points-based league a week or so ago, but I do now have the ability to create tournaments on Lock, I figured I should use it - so instead of the structure of a league, why not just start a weekly tournament for us 2+2'ers?

No points, no frills - just a good old regular game. Then we can come back here to this thread and regale each other with our triumphs and bad beat stories.

I'm talking a nice solid tournament, old school type - 15 minute blinds, 5 to 10k starting stacks - play some real poker. Or something similar - I'm open to suggestions. $10 + $1 buy-in or thereabouts. If we can rustle up a couple dozen players or so, that would be a pretty decent game. Nothing too organized - just whoever wants to play.

And yes, I am a Lock affiliate - but the only reason I joined was to try to start the league I proposed here on the forums. The thread went through without a reply, so I have no use for being an affiliate other than I can create tourneys (which I don't get anything out of - unless I win, which I'd obviously plan on doing...haha).

If interested, reply and we can discuss when to play. If not, I'll get off my "creating tournaments" kick and just go back to regular posting and playing in $11 deepstack turbos.

I like the idea of keeping buy-ins small around $10. The field will prolly be a little tougher if its mostly 2+2'rs.

Alright...decent response so far! I'd say evening hours during the week would probably be best to hold em, pardon the pun. Perhaps a 7pm EST start time? Indeed on the buy-in and field strength, Drifter.

Anyway...yeah I think maybe once or twice a week at $10 + $1 is the way to go. 15 minute blinds, 10k starting chips. A real solid game. The more players the better, obviously.

I'll let this thread go a little longer to see if we can get some more interested folks. Then I'll see about setting it up and when (again, probably 7-8pm EST start time or so).

Just a thought, but if the first couple have a fairly small player pool, you might want to consider cutting back on the deepstacks some.

10K starting chips and 15 minutes blinds is a bit much for a single table tournament.

Especially if you're starting at 7 or 8pm EST on a weekday. Makes more sense to me to run these on the weekend, and start a bit earlier.

^^ Oh for sure. If it's less than two tables, no sense in having that many chips in play with 15 minute blinds. I can structure each game accordingly, so yeah, we'll see how it goes.

How about I just do this. The first game will be announced here in a bit. We'll plan past that after we see what kind of response we get.
