Shane, please just tell me what to do Shane, please just tell me what to do

I graduated from FSU three weeks ago. On 3/25/2013 at 7:05am, I made my first Lock cashout. My cashout for $2500 was supposed to keep rent and bills covered while flying out for interviews for the summer. I've had to move back to my parents area for a job at an ice cream place to cover rent in Tallahassee, at a home I'm not even living. I have a degree in economics and political science. There are plenty of jobs for which I'm qualified, yet I cannot even begin to apply and interview because of this. I haven't played poker since my backer had me transfer my funds back to him when Lock seemed to be even shakier. I am always tired. I am sore. I don't want to be stuck doing this. I'm high strung and stressed out. Please help me. Shane, please give me a solution.

Just to try to lend some assistance, as I had a cashout pending a while back and decided to go this route...

I cancelled the request about 10 days after making it when I read about the delays and such, and decided to sell it via the P2P transfer thread here on 2+2. I ended up getting about .7 on my skin money at that time, and the best you could probably end up getting now would be about .425 or so. But that's $1,062.50 in your pocket today, as opposed to waiting endlessly for Lock to get your payout to you.

Each situation is unique, so maybe waiting for the full amount is worth it to you, in the end. And I'm not sure if a request made two months ago is able to be cancelled or not - I'd think live support could answer that for you. But for me, looking at the little tidbits about your situation, $1k in my hand now (just do ample research before finding a trading partner, and don't be afraid to do incremental trades to ease into it if you wish) is at least the most likely sure thing that would help you out now. Sucks to take such a hit on the full amount, but unless Lock is able to expedite your specific instance here, it might be the way to go. Ultimately though it's up to you.

My two cents, anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not really counting on the full amount. I was just not even considering selling as an option until now. I am going to contact live support to see if this is possible.

please tell me that this is not for real. Seriously, it just cannot be on the up and up. A degree in economics and all of your eggs are in this basket?

Hate to be a dick and a realist, but why should you get preferential treatment over anyone else? Unless your a high raker (which apparently your not since you say you haven't even been playing lately) there not gonna give you expedited cashouts. If that were the case why wouldn't everyone just give a sob story and ask for expedited cashouts?

It is your money though, and if you need it know!!! Then like nutz said just sell it for .4-.45 and wash your hands of all of it.

You could always call JG Wentworth - 877 CASH NOW!!! hahaha

Annnnyway...yeah, that's the thing. Lock's probably not going to rush to get you your dough over others who have, unfortunately, been waiting far longer that 2 months and also have their own personal needs/concerns. Best bet for money now, as sucky as it might be, is to look into P2P trading if your convo with live support was fruitful (re: cancelling your payout).

Attention everyone: How can he sell the money via player-transfer when he has already requested the cash-out a couple months ago? Will Lock let him cancel the cashout? (I don't think they will...but I'm not positive)

I'm not asking for preferential treatment. I'm asking what it is I should be doing. I would willingly sell it all. I've actually stated that already. Microbob made the same point in the q&a thread as well. Am I even allowed to do that? If you or someone else wants to hand me 1000 dollars, I would be more than happy to click a few buttons to rid myself of the loss. I have thought for a few weeks that it would be a complete loss of all of the money, and only recently realized there was still slight potential for selling at a vig. I've heard numerous times that I should rid myself of it at the reduced payout. I really am not holding out for some miracle 2500. I found one person willing to buy listed on the first page and there hadn't been a reply in a couple of weeks. I have contacted him and have started negotiations, but even he has stopped buying. If someone wants to buy the entire 2500 for 1k so they can resell it for a profit over a longer period of time or speculate on its value in the future, that's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish. It's not as simple as that, though. Look at the marketplace.

Not sure if you actually found the correct marketplace thread or not. But here it is anyways. Read the first post (mandatory) and trade at your own risk. Trade with reputable people (ones with a history of proven trades, easily found within the thread):

Lock Poker for the most part will not get involved whatsoever with these trades, so again, be careful with whom you trade with. It may be rare to find someone who is willing to purchase such a large amount right now all at once, so I would suggest trying to trade smaller amounts and seeing if you get more reception. It also decreases the overall risk of being scammed on a single large trade. There should be buyers at around .35-.4 most likely (although I haven't been in that thread in a bit), but they may be more likely to purchase in $300 increments or so. Good luck. I know what it's like to have to sell off funds on Lock, it's never fun for anyone taking a clear loss on money you rightfully earned.

I actually wasn't and feel dumb now. All of my experience with trading was done through the main area and not that actual thread. Thank you.

Don't forget to check out the Daily Market Vig Value thread as well to keep up to date on what Lock is trading for. Shameless plug...haha. And as with the P2P thread, be sure to read the OP.

Hey no worries, not everyone is aware that it exists. You're far from the only person. Certainly don't feel dumb. The only dumb thing about this entire situation is that we have to resort to selling our Lock $ at a discount because the site itself isn't paying in a timely manner at all.

Btw, check out users' post history before trading with them. In their post history you'll be able to find their previously confirmed trades in that thread. That's an easy way to locate users who actually have a reliable trade history. Also, after you trade, confirm the details of the trade in that thread so others can see your history in case you need to make more trades, or even potentially ones in the future.

Good luck with everything, interviews included.
