RB vs. VIP
So I've searched the threads a bit and found some info about this topic, however there are not definitive answers for some of the entry level questions nubs might have about the bottom levels of VIP vs RB.
Additionally, I emailed support asking to be switched from RB to VIP and received this message in response:
Quote:
Hello,
Thank you for your email. Please remember that once Rakeback is removed, it can not be reinstated in the future.
Kind regards,

Here is a quote from Rizen 7/28
Quote:
You know you can switch back and forth to rakeback. I don't anticipate this promo changing (although I will pass the feedback along) but if you're worried about missing value you can just switch to VIP then back to rakeback if/when Ronin is over.

SO WHICH IS IT!?!?!?
Now I don't know what to do?
I am about to hit the SilverVIP and will hit BlackVIP before the middle of the month.
Does it make sense to be switched to VIP permanently as long as I will maintain BlackVIP?
There needs to be a Rakeback vs. VIP sticky, imho.
SOMEONE PLEASE TO BE EXPLAINING HOW REALLY THIS ALL WORKS
Please help us settle this once and for all.
Thanks

Re: RB vs. VIP
True or false:
Players clear Deposit bonus at 50% when on RB
Players clear Ronin at 50% when on RB
Players earn VIP points at 50% when on RB

Re: RB vs. VIP
I know for sure RB players clear Ronin at 50%.
They also clear VIP points at a lower rate, not sure of the percentage - and since the Depo bonus is released via points that would also clear slower

Re: RB vs. VIP
Imo sign up to Lock with RB, once you hit SilverVIP, get changed to VIP and never go back.

Are you sure it wouldn't be better to wait until Black? At Black it's obvi, you give up 1% rb (35 Vs 36) in exchange for points, bonus clearing and ronin at 2x speed.
But switching to VIP at silver you're giving up 11% rb (36% Vs 25%). Has someone done the math?
OP is right though, a single definitive thread (mayhaps a sticky) on this subject would be super useful instead of trying to put all the info together for a comparison piecemeal from diff threads.

Re: RB vs. VIP
The truth is, even at 11% loss for points clearing, bonus clearing and ronin (if it's half the speed, it would mean 5% RB for point clearing lost, ~22% for bonus clearing and Ronin is also around 42% RB total (so 21% lost), but as said before, you can swap inbetween so you never really lose out on Ronin as long as you swap to VIP by the end of the month.
That's still 27% lost if it's 50% lost on point clearing and bonus clearing RB vs VIP. I'm not 100% certain it's 50% however, it could indeed be a 35% different, or something along those lines.
In any case though, SilverVIP vs RB isn't the question at all: SilverVIP is for sure better, 11% vs 27% doesn't even come close - the real question is: is even WhiteVIP better than RB aswell? If the rate is indeed 50% for point clearing and bonus clearing for RB, then yes: WhiteVIP is better: 36% vs 15% (21% difference) vs above mentioned 27% would make WhiteVIP still 6% better.
From SilverVIP onwards, for sure VIP, would indeed be nice to get the numbers out there correctly, doesn't matter for me anymore though already hit BlackVIP and obviously not turning back.

Probably a new rule mostly because they want to cut down on people contacting support for issues like this (they're overloaded as it is). I do think it's a fair rule - people constantly asking to be swapped over is extra work for them and tbh it's not sustainable and indeed not how it should work. I guess they just changed their policy on this recently (and rightly so).
From what i could find on the internet, it looks like it's indeed 50% bonus/point/ronin clearing rate, which would mean RB untill you hit the first level of VIP (WhiteVIP) and then just change over because the the 21% extra flat rakeback does not make up for half clearing rate of ronin/points/bonus.
I do want to add to this that this is only so if you know you will always HAVE the deposit bonus available to be clearing: if you only deposit say 200$ then it's very realistic it'll run out at one point. I made a big deposit at first to ensure i'll always have the bonus. If i do ever run out (i will still) i'll just reload and have it up again. If you don't plan on having it up, then RB may turn out better for you at least untill SilverVIP. The same goes for Ronin basically: with the (new) rule being enforced of having limits on prizes paid out, obviously being VIP for the Ronin clearing is only beneficial to you if you actually rake enough to be hitting these Ronin levels in the first place. I can imagine plenty of people are simply not getting any money out of Ronin anymore at all currently, so yet another reason to just stay on RB. Points remain 5% more return for VIP players compared to RB (10% vs 5% return) no matter what.
So yeah.. the situation will be different for everyone, but if you're a player who starts raking in a decent volume at the start of the month and are hitting Ronin levels, definately swap over to VIP once you hit White (you'll save a decent amount of rakeback on that first 150$ paid, do you get anything returned AT ALL if you're on VIP without hitting a level yet? only points maybe for 10% return?)

That's pretty much what I was thinking "it depends". I'm about to clear my original deposit bonus and didn't start playing on Lock until like the 6th of this month so I missed all the early Ronin levels. I just hit $750 MGR so switch over at silver, figuring I'll just make a decent deposit sometime this week and get Ronin, bonus cleared and points at 2x speed (which should make up the 11% drop in rb).
But yeah, with no ronin and no deposit bonus to clear I don't think it makes sense to switch over until Black level.
One question though, do VIP levels carry over month to month. Ie, if I hit black this month, on Sept 1st will I start back over with no VIP level or at VIP Black (and then have to earn it again for Oct)?

Re: RB vs. VIP
I am on RB... how do you even check what your current VIP level is? There used to be a bar before they switched the software... I can't find that anymore.

If your RB you can't be VIP and vice-versa, it's an 'either/or', not both. So itt we're just talking about when/if it makes sense to switch youre acount from RB to VIP.

That is what I mean... how do you know when to switch to VIP when you can't even see your level?

Turns out your question is a moot point.
I switched over to VIP this morning and emailed support to find out why I didn't have access to my VIP vault.

Hello xxxx,
Thank you for your email. As you were part of the Rakeback program until 9 hours ago you have not been moving up VIP levels. Only your rake and fees since you have moved over to Rakeback will now count towards your VIP levels.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Kind Regards,
Jack

I promptly asked them to switch me back to rb (as I totally missed the boat on Ronin and prolly not gonna rake ANOTHER 750 this month).
I think unless you plan on raking 750+ EVERY month AND can count on both Ronin and deposit bonuses to clear, it makes sense to stay rb, at least for me.
But if you do switch over, try to do so on the last day of the month to maximize your rb and to make sure every cent raked in a given month counts towards your VIP.

Does he mean: Only your rake and fees since you have moved over to VIP will now count towards your VIP levels?
Some strict new rules they're applying now, probably because otherwise they're giving away too much free money to people imo it all makes sense and they should've done this from the start (from their point of view ofcourse) glad i got to profit from these things before they decided to change it..

Re: RB vs. VIP
I'm a complete noob when it comes to Lock. With the VIP, do you start immediately receiving daily cashback? Or must you wait a calandar month for them to see where you stand in the VIP program? Thanks guys.
