Parallels 7 For Mac on Lock

I am looking to purchase Parallels 7 for Mac so I can use Pokertracker on Lock poker because the current Lock Mac client does not support it. So my questions are these. Has anyone else used Pokertracker on Parallels 7 for Mac or have used Parallels for the Lock poker room? And if so the pros and cons of using it would be great. Any kind of info would be very appreciated.

Re: Parallels 7 For Mac on Lock

Hey there,

I'm am indeed running PT3 and LP on Parallels 7 for Mac. My machine is OS X 10.7.3; processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5; memory 4gb 1333 MHz DDR3. IDK what any of that means but if you're on a really old Macbook or whatever it probably will run differently.

So far I've had a great experience with Parallels 7. It doesn't come with any of the the laginess of Wine and generally runs smoothly. I hasn't crashed or slowed down my computer or forced to me to restart or anything of that nature.

The Lock client runs normally. PT3 runs normally as well although I didn't transfer my HH database over from my old PT3. I figured keeping smaller amounts of data on my Parallels PT3 would be best.

Parallels 7 comes with a free year long trial of Windows 8 which I would rate 7/10. I've never owned a PC but I'll say Win8 is the best experience I've had with PC software. The format is intuitive and your files are easy to manage.

Pros:
-You can access your Win8 files from OS X; clicking the application launch client will automatically open P7.
-Fast, smooth, seems reliable so far.
-Allows you to host not only PT3, but programs like HEM, PokerStove, and Flopzilla.
-Relatively cheap compared to buying a PC.
-Customer service is A+ so far. I've spoken to their call center and it was like a dream come true.
-IIRC, 60 day use-and-return policy.

Cons:
-Win8's design can be wonky at times. There's a really annoying translucent window in the upper left corner that can block out the occasional graphic or player name. You'll have to run it yourself to see what I'm talking about.
-Working in both Win8 and OS X can get messy at times, especially with duplicate files/databases/etc.

I've only been using P7 for about a month or two and only for poker so these are my thoughts at the moment. I've barely explored the program/tried to resolve any of my small issues so use at your own risk IMO.

Re: Parallels 7 For Mac on Lock

Thanks for the detailed response- just have a few questions if you can help me out here...

So I just downloaded parallels 7 and windows 8 (trial)-
1) when I try to download poker tracker through windows it says I need to download "service pack 1" and when I try to download it- windows says there's some error- is this download necessary?

2) can you run the lock poker thru Mac and poker tracker thru windows or run both thru windows?

3) is lock poker under merge network for auto import site for pokertracker? If it is, it says they can't locate the hand history- what is the link to that?

Thanks for the help
