Hello TS2, I'm the poker room manager over at Lock Poker. I've personally cashed out many times over the last few years with no issues. If you have any questions regarding Lock Poker please feel free to send me a private message.

Re: Lock poker - ne1 have experience?
A couple of things, first off I was a sponsored pro on Lock from May 2009-Jan 2011, so I played almost two years before accepting the Poker Room Manager position. I have that experience to draw on.
I am much more focused on the business side of things now, and mostly play in only special pro events and things of that nature.

It is me. I never denied that I still play. Part of my deal is still as a sponsored pro and I have no access to the back end systems.
My function is as an ambassador of the brand and a representative of the players. It is not a traditional employment contract but more of a sponsorship. I have no access to the operations side of things and therefore it is not a violation of the T&C. I was very careful to check everything with both Lock and Merge before I accepted the position.
I play a very significant amount less than I used to due to my added responsibilities, but I believe that as a representative of the players it is important for me to interact with them via e-mail, forums, and in the games.

Re: Lock Poker
Sir,
You've been more than a "sponsored pro" for quite some time so why are you playing on the network?

Re: Lock Poker
Rofl ouch. Anyway, aside from Rizen, someone whom I admire in the poker and business worlds, I can say from experience that the rake back and deposit bonus are not as much incentive to play as one might think.
I played mostly $.50 / $1 HU NLHE, and there is more bumhunting there than on bigger sites. I'm not that good of a player (if I was, I'd have a lot more to show for it), and after just 2 or 3 days it became difficult to get games. I took it as a compliment, but what ended up happening after a hundred hands or so is players would say please don't sit with me. Every skilled player was there to find a complete fish / noob to poker and play no one else. It became clear very quickly to me that I could either wait all day for these few fish, play the one regular who would play me who was pretty evenly matched with me, or of course make the minus EV move to play the few players who were aggressive and likely much better NL HU players than me.
The deposit bonus is ridiculous to clear. An average player will lose every penny to rake before clearing the bonus. The small catch to the 35% rakeback is that you only get 65% of your VIP points. Lock is supposed to have a store, but from what I can tell one has never existed and when I asked a customer service rep online, I was told it wouldn't be open until at least next year. VIP points are used for tournament entries.
I'm not picking on a small site, but I want to save those of you who think you're making a +EV move by taking advantage of what sound to be juicy promotional offers time, money, and effort.

Re: Lock Poker
At what limit do the bad beat jackpot tables start? Do they start at NL 50 or NL 100?

Pardon my ignorance, but why not run the mac version natively rather than the windows version in Wine on your mac?

Re: Lock Poker
Pretty sure I'm probably the ignorant one. On the website, I see 2 download buttons. One has a graphic, the Mac symbol, but it's not a "separate" button -- it's just part of a larger graphic. Clicking this downloads install.exe file.
Second button is "Download" text button at the top of the screen. Same result -- forced d/l of Windows version.
Dunno. I'm stumped.
