This. USUALLY, I don-t have a time frame for depositing, but lately - if I was doing checks, I would deposit quickly. BUT, having worked in programming for financial institutions, I know how to verify a check is good PRIOR to depositing. When Pokerstars left - the first check I got was bad. IF there is no phone number on the check, you can verify by locating the actual bank. Of course, discretion is advised using this method, and you will need that poker face to put on a business front (hint, hint).
Doing this verification for checks from UB (back in the day), FTP and Stars, I have found Two bad checks - one from FTP, and one from Stars. At the time of the FTP check, CS was good, and they quickly replaced the check. Since Stars was a final cash out, they were reluctant to reissue the check - but checks started to report bouncing a couple of weeks later, so I had a quick replacement check
Even for replacement checks, I verify the funds exist prior to depoaiting. ALL THAT SAID, after deposit (usually larger than $300, don't want bank mad), I make sure the funds have cleared. If the check is really big, you can chase down both ends for peace of mind (your bank and the issuing bank), prior to using any of the money.
Hence, I have enough life funds to do without the check, so that its not auto cash and rub on titties

, and they are clear prior to my using them. However, I actually prefer the p2p thread over processing a check. Just do a lot of reading prior to starting trades, and you are good to go. Other than p2p, I would use a WU payment. Vig is worth the peace of mind. JMNSHO
