Holiday Gold Holiday Gold

I saw that for the $5,000 guarantee $150+12 tournament today Lock added $500 to the prizepool as a holiday gold bonus.

Any plans like this with future tournaments(lower buy ins?), or was this a one time thing really?

Ha, ya I was tempted. I thought it was a cool promo given the holiday season and everything. I am sure people would love this and feel more apart of Lock after all the other stuff going on. You can make of that what you want, but it would be something in their direct hands that would be easy to do. 500 is just 1 of the bounty amounts they add on every weekend...and they would be getting a lot of interest for this.

As it was the payouts were top 5 I believe. and they added in 100 to first, and 50 each up to 9th place for a $500 bonus to the prizepool.

I really feel like it was wasted there. When you buy in 150+12 the 6th to 9th place 50 dollar finish doesn't really mean much. Ofc a nice bonus but imagine if it was a 30+3 5k tournament instead.

In the 30+3 Lock would be generating more rake ( for every 150 add on 15 instead of 12) and 5x or more players. The payout bonus would mean a lot more. If you kept it the same and had the final table get the $500 bonus that would be a sweet gift and already more than the 30+3 buy in plus whatever the payouts end up being. If you spread it out evenly in the prizepool that is still a healthy boost. They could add on that final table twist though and make things interesting where only the final table gets the bonus.

I am curious if there was anything behind this, or if it was some kind of donation thing.

Seems like something like this would be better than some of those bounties that almost go unnoticed and don't really make you feel apart of anything.

And if you win or get the bonus, how do you plan on getting that money off???

Ya, I get that there are a lot of issues with cash out times, methods and overall withdrawal processing in general. There are p2p transfers on Lock at least. It would be nice for people to get their own money instead of seeing 500 thrown in for promotions. Still, these promotions don't really seem to affect any of that and are run on their own. I don't know all the details but from what I gather taking away $500 bounties on the Sunday tournaments won't mean everyone is paid within a week for withdrawals or even anything better at all. Continue the questions and demand in the other threads, hopefully things will get better.

Promotions are run regardless and I would like to keep this thread independent from all the others.

I was just curious about this, and wondering if it was some kind of donation spur of the moment type deal, or just spur of the moment. If it is some holiday promotional thing, I think it would be better if they did it at lower limits and spread the word out.

EDIT: I saw another holiday gold bonus added on today in the 4k 100+9 tournament. Same type of thing 100 for first, 50 to all others down to 9th place.

There are gold card tourneys too. A quick question: Does 200x2a mean that you can buy in for a tournament with 200 deuces (any suit) like let's say 50 2 of clubs, 50 2 of hearts, 50 2 of diamonds and 50 2 of hearts. Or must they all be same suit?

And how can you see what suits are needed for buy-in. Does c stand for clubs, h for hearts, s for spades and d for diamonds (and a for any)? It'd sound reasonable.

Just want to know before I waste my money for cards.

Would also like to know what skin you are on. I am on lock and have been receiving gold cards (or gold spade chips, no number associated) at cash games . However, after doing a google search for this topic (lock/ gold cards, etc), I believe this is just a glitch with the lock mac software and that they are valueless.

(See: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/19...games-1225952/ )

Are these old 'gold cards' I am receiving? I also have no way of checking how many I have received and have never seen a tournament that accepts them (so I am guessing you are on a different skin that still makes use of them)...

Gold Cards are not used on Lock at all. If for some reason you are receiving them, then that's erronous and they'll have no value whatsoever, aswell as indeed no way to check how many you have of them.

They're not supposed to be there at all, they have no value, they are void for everyone who plays on Lock, simple.

That being said, Gold Cards are basically a form of "rakeback" which Lock gives you in other, and much better ways: pure cash back, and lots of it.

Well, the Holiday Gold tournaments continue to run every day at about the same time. Always 1 tournament that I see that is either 100+9 or 150+12. Support wasn't sure about them and I got no feedback here. Seemed like it could have been a nice Holiday opportunity for a promo or something. I was just curious if it was some kind of donation thing or a random 1 day add on or something else. No big deal, not that important. I just wanted to post a final update on it.
