Flips in promotions Flips in promotions

05-30-2013 , 11:48 PM
After taking on a lot of feedback from players a new rule has been put in place regarding the Coin flip tournaments an promotions.

Effective June 1st only 25% of rake from Coin flip tournaments will count towards promotions such as monthly rake chases.

Management wanted to prevent the Flips from dominating the promos but didn't want to completely remove rewards for players playing the flips and feel this is a good compromise.

(Note: if the mods feel this is too much promotion please delete, I just felt with all the conversations on this topic in the promo threads it should be shared.)

How does this compare with flip tournament promotions on other play-money sites?

Personally I don't see it as promoting. It's more of needed information that people here should have. And seeing as communication between Lock and its players seems to rest largely(solely?) on your shoulders Shane, I'm not sure how else this information would be noticed by players.

Although, if people who are playing flips don't realize this, and don't see this message, again I think that presents the ongoing issue of lack of overall communication to players by Lock.

Thank you, Shane. It was long overdue.

Wow, I might actually attempt to go after a promotion now. If only I could get whatever money I won off.

Good decision overall imo

The correct way for Lock to announce these changes would be running updates in the banners above the tables. Then it's no question that everyone would know when major changes take place. Prob won't happen tho because its not really +ev for lock if people stop flipping as much.

That would look so ridiculous.

All they need to do is put it somewhere in the Terms on the Grind for Glory webpage.

*"Coin Flip" Sit&Go's will only count towards 25% of rake paid towards all prizes in this promotion.

something along those lines.

Lock could always make better use of their "new" news page on their website and I'm sure G911 would be more than happy to write about it.

But yeah I agree with you. Don't see this post as advertising and I might actually grind some glory in June now if I ever manage to get a GFG cash table going...

That's another good spot to put it.

Or emails notifying people that changes are being made, before they actually happen.

Agree with 4barrel,

The'll just have to flip 4x the amount of games. I think McCormick will still dominate by only flipping twice of what he's flipping already.

No, the ratio of rake paid vs rakeback vs return from the promo won't be good enough anymore flipping = dead, or at least, it's dead for the GfG promo.. people can still use it to gamble ofc
05-31-2013 , 06:26 AM
Sweet! I guess that means I'll be able to clear a step or two next month....lol
05-31-2013 , 06:38 AM
Actually, i guess it's not completely dead. People would be smart to still use it as a "tipping point" kind of thing where if at the end of the race if 2 people are close, you could boost yourself ahead flipping some. It would be +EV if it can mean moving up a prize spot there.

It was funny to see McCormick regged in every Flip from $5-$100 15 hrs a day..If you don't mind me asking what was your ROI in flips?
05-31-2013 , 05:25 PM
This sounds good! Hopefully some of you bums will start a few tables with me
05-31-2013 , 09:32 PM
this is very good news shane! finally seeing some pro-activity
Are the actual promotions the same as last month or have changed?
05-31-2013 , 09:37 PM
wait are there no more WSOP prizes?? so basically getting rid of the GfG promos as part of rake chase is not doing much for all other players that already rake alot? but cant finish top 5
05-31-2013 , 09:39 PM
^^^^^I see why lock still has customers^^^^^^
