Now the rakeback player gets 35% plus can use those points to buy stuff in the store (whenever that happens) or buy into tournaments. Is using points to buy stuff worth more than 5%?

I know people will say casino bonuses come with being a VIP...but that hasn't happened yet so who knows.
Points add 6.5% value to rakeback. The points can be used to buy into many tournaments at $1/100 pts. That requires you to play tournies to get the value, though.

There is supposed to be a Point Store coming, but I have no idea what that will be like.

How do you even use the points to register for tournaments? If I hit the register button it only gives me the option to use real money.

There are some tournaments that allow you to also buy in with points. In the tournament lobby, if you hover over the green dot with the question mark next to the buy in amount, it will show you a point cost as well if you can use points.

Yeah so whatever the casino bonus is, you're getting slightly less than that in value (if you just do a few spins on the roulette wheel then you will be taking like a -5.26% edge or something like that).

If you can rake over $1k a month then I would suggest you to join the VIP program as that would put you in the 3rd level.

And yes, the casino bonus will have some sort of a play-through requirement. If you want more help deciding feel free to PM me and I will help as much as I can.

If something comes back to replace the casino bonus, i would switch to vip, but as of now I am really glad i didnt switch.
is this right? i should stick with RB then? i dont really want casino bonus in which i have to play....i mean i would but that **** has to be rigged lol imo.

If you don't want to have to play the casino bonus then no worries but that does put it over the 40% I was just letting you know the most effective rakeback plan for you. The house BJ edge is only 2.5% as it is easy to play optimal online. In reality the choice is yours, I am not a huge fan of the casino either but as a poker player I want to be able to receive as much effective RB as possible.

how is BJ edge 2.5%? i though BJ edge is only supposed to be less than 1%

Sorry what I was implying was that the house only has a 2.5% edge meaning $100 would have an expected value of $97.50 over a long period. However there is obviously variance just as there is with poker.

i think it takes 100s of thousands of hands to get the long run in blackjack doesn't it....just like poker....someone correct me if im wrong....clearly the few hundred hands spent clearing a casino bonus would not be anything close to the long run thus adding wild variance to the "bonus"

I would say this is fairly accurate, so then it becomes a matter of how much you want to limit this variance. If you just wanna spend all of your bonus on one hand, then your swings are gonna be super high. If you break it down and play a bunch of hands, it will of course be lower variance.

SO if I am a rake back player at the black level can I enter into the last sunday of the month free-rolls that I qualify for? or would I have to switch?
07-30-2011 , 04:54 PM
Emailed support on July 23rd about switching from rakeback to VIP. Got a response on the 24th stating it was fowarded to the VIP team to have me switched. A week later I have stopped getting responses and I am still a rakeback player. So much for this new and improved support system. I got better response times before this "new" system was in place.

If you are a black level VIP as a RB player you should have received a notification that you have a tourney ticket, and you should be able to register. I received mine for the silver level.

That is not good. I intend to switch over August 1st, since I've raked over 1K this month as a RB player, and plan to increase volume considerably next month.

They better not take forever on it. I don't think I can quite make it to black at 65%

What happened to the 50k free roll i only see a bunch of bs 4k freerolls in the lobby I thought the last sunday of the month there would be a 50k freeroll for anyone who raked more than 5k points. where is it? Am I just stupid? totally a possibility if anyone knows though please let me know whats going on.

I just want to confirm before I follow through: My VIP points will NOT be zeroed upon my switching from RB to VIP, correct?

There used to be a 50k freeroll on Merge, but they haven't had that for a couple years.

Correct. I've never heard of this being an issue either but if by some off chance it is let me know ASAP and I'll make sure our technical team fixes it.

I really wished I would have done my research before switching from RB to VIP so soon. I did not realize that the $20/1000 VIP redemption thing pertained to points exchange (I don't know why I didn't realize this lol). I just listened to the crowd saying "If you rake 1K a month then you get better value switching to VIP and being a black VIP"). Well, check this:

As a rakeback player, you get 35% +6.5% for VIP points. But here's the catch--it's not really 6.5%, it's actually 13% for black and 14.3% for black elite. In other words, if you stay as a RB player for an extended period of time, your hoarded VIP points will increase in value by 2 or 2.25 whenever you finally do make the switch. I just exchanged a little over 7K points for a little over $150. If I would have stayed as a RB player for a few more months (or however long), I could have exchanged a ****ton more for that higher value. This makes the value of RB either 48% or 49.3%, which is second only to black elite, amirite?

So, to put it succinctly, Ebes was kind of right ITT when he said that exchanging points after switching from RB to VIP IS manipulating the system. I just wish I would have realized this and been able to manipulate it more than I did...
