Any news of anybody getting arrested? Any news of anybody getting arrested?

If someone plays in Florida is it illegal to play/cash out?

I heard that people have been getting in trouble for cashing out but not necessarily just playing on the site. With all this hype about cash outs taking a while, I was planning on just cashing out ASAP but I am afraid to get in trouble.

I honestly don't care if it takes two months to get my money as long as I get it and I don't get arrested or whatever.

I have never heard of anyone getting arrested for cashing out from a poker site.

It's not illegal to cash out your money from a poker site.

Black Friday does not ban poker, poker has always been legal. It bans banks from transferring/taking money to gambling sites and poker is considered gambling.

Dont worry you wont get arrested.

Where have you heard that people have been getting in trouble for cashing out?

You could PM the poster before starting a thread about it, a thread like this is bound to set some panic to users that isn't necessary as long as it's just a guy who may very well be trolling posting no details on a forum about it.

You can delete the thread if you want. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Yah right, there's no reason for anyone to get into a panic over anything that's happening at Lock.

Haha, c'mon, this isn't about Lock. The post in question has been deleted, and wasn't even in the Lock forum at the time I commented.

Some random poster said something about people being arrested if they cash out in Florida. He provided no evidence, specifics or anything else, that's why I said it was silly to panic over one 2p2 poster saying something so general about something that would be huge news if it happened.

Something happening with Lock would be a whole different topic. And there's still no reason to panic, information about Lock and most other major poker rooms, good and bad, has consistently been available publicly for months, if not over a year now. If people are just finding out about negative things on Lock or other rooms, they weren't doing their homework before and their reason for panicking is more to do with their lack of responsible research before putting their money at risk, less to do with crappy poker rooms.

Dude I'm from Florida and I just saw this thread. I spent last night locked up and my girlfriend finally bailed me out. I was arrested for attempting to cash a $300 check at the local bank, they said I had broken Section 849.14 of the TOC's. I'm so scared

So apparently this is actually a credible story. So all of you who keep flaming me for asking about the legality of cashing out and saying that there's like no chance of getting arrested are proven wrong here.

So now that people are getting arrested for cashing out from these sites, what is there to do? Just wait until a bill gets passed in FL that regulates online poker? Or just wait until Lock goes bankrupt which everyone is saying is happening soon?

Super lame.

What is so credible about it? He doesn't even say what the supposed charge was. Please tell me how you have verified people are getting arrested. BTW, nobody had mentioned arrests until you started asking about it.

Well, I guess I didn't understand what he meant by TOC. I still don't, but 849.14 is a statute in Florida (albeit not the one that was recently passed). I don't believe that anyone was arrested. I would assume that there would be more reports of this besides the one.

OP, why did you start this thread? Did you actually hear of someone being arrested, or did you just assume that people were being arrested because you read in the paper that the new bill they passed can affect online poker in Florida?

I started this thread because this is the first time ive ever considered cashing out from Lock in the Florida. I've searched the internet and I haven't found anyone that said they got in trouble for cashing out via WU or check. I came on here to see if anyone has actually gotten in trouble and I haven't heard of it because I wouldn't have cashed out if people were.

I haven't heard of anybody getting arrested nor did I assume people were. I just wanted to ask to clear my head about my fears of Florida law. Don't understand why everyone is flaming over this thread. Seems like a pretty decent question that I'm sure more people than just me would be interested in hearing an answer to.

You can never be too cautious with your freedom. Don't take the flaming personally.
