Re: Udacity: three new CS courses starting April 16th

Signed up for these three and CS101, definitely going slower than I expected. Just don't have enough free time. Almost finished with CS101, haven't found any problem particularly challenging, but the Python knowledge helped me solve a problem at work which is pretty sweet. I haven't looked at any of the others but CS262 guy > Dave IMO.

Re: Udacity: three new CS courses starting April 16th

Does anybody happen to know if I sign up for CS212 if I can take it at my own pace, or do I need to finish with everyone else? I believe it's scheduled to end within the next couple of weeks. I poked around in the online classroom and the forum but couldn't figure out what would happen if I jumped in now.

I think you can jump in at any time and you can go at your own pace (homework is allowed to be submitted late - not quite sure what that means if you want to get a certificate from them for having finished the course). The first programming course they offered this february (cs101) was only recently 'closed', at least I can no longer access the videos and the forums for that class; in other words, you should be able to this version of cs212 for a few weeks after the course is done. Also you can always wait another 2 weeks and redo it fresh in the next hexamester.

Re: Udacity: three new CS courses starting April 16th

it is asking for a password now to join cs212 or the others.

I am in the middle of cs101 right now though. I would really like to take the other classes though as soon as I finish this one. Are they still going to be there? are they going to reteach the class again in a few weeks and start over with the same lessons?

Have they announced when the next round of course starts? I'd like to try cs101, but I looked and the exam is in 5 days. I don't have time to catch up to everything that quickly (I have barely above no programming experience).

Re: Udacity: three new CS courses starting April 16th

I saw this on the website:

"Welcome to Udacity! We currently offer the following courses, with many more to come. All our courses are free, and you are welcome to sign up at any time. CS101 and CS373 are now open classes, you can enroll and follow along at your own pace. The remainder of our classes are being offered for the first time, new units will be posted once every week starting April 16th for seven weeks, and we suggest you follow along if you can although it is not required. We currently offer exams for all classes every eight weeks."

It seemed to me you could start when you want and test when you're ready, so I started the current session of CS253 this Monday, despite the class being on week 6.
