Wow, it's like lots of informed stereotypes in one post.

Most people I know started out doing development in Windows - and most of them have moved to Macs since there's a nice balance between things that work well right out of the box and doing unix work that'll work without changes when moving to a unix server.

The idea that Linux is in the same league as Windows or Macs for available software and ease of use is silly.
