Re: Anyone written their own CMS?

Yes. I use it all the time. But it's not a CMS (PyroCMS is a popular one based on CI, though). It's a framework.

Re: Anyone written their own CMS?

Having a play around with PyroCMS now. I love it so far!

I think I'm doing what I usually do though and losing focus and just jumping from project to project. Going to stick with Code Igniter as I like what I see at the moment.

Kyleb - would it be possible to take a quick look at one of your Pyro-made sites? No worries if that's not possible.

I don't use PyroCMS. Sorry. Just CI.

Re: Anyone written their own CMS?

I think it's a great way to learn PHP. It took me about a month to build a basic one from scratch, with no frameworks. I actually talked about it in a job interview (finance role with some programming elemnts) and afterwards when I was offered a position they told me it was one of the main things that separated me from the rest of the candidates. I had a one line mention of it including the web address on my CV.

Re: Anyone written their own CMS?

That's awesome hammertime. I started my internship today and I think it's pretty obvious I'm gonna need to get up to scratch with my PHP.

I'm not attempting a CMS any more, I'm just trying to become familiar with various things. At the moment I am trying to scrape data from websites, I don't think it'll be too hard just having a few problems at the moment.

Does PHP help you these days with your job or was it just beneficial for getting the position?
