Want to read about why exactly why the Vietnam War occurred, uninterested in anything about the soldiers and experiences, just it's reasons for inception and continuation. Thanks.

Marilyn Young, The Vietnam Wars. Includes French

Lloyd Gardner, Pay Any Price, on Johnson's escalation, when the US really entered the war in a big way.

Fredrik Logevall Embers of War: The Fall of an Empire and the Making of America's Vietnam. Re: French defeat, Americans taking over, runs up to 1959.

Lien-Hang T. Nguyen, Hanoi's War: An International History of the War for Peace in Vietnam.
This book is shaking everything up because it is the first thorough look at top decisions on the other side.
