I told him no, that I play online poker and that's all online. He asked me one more time if I was sure and then I said yeah, kinda laughed, and said I wish I did have more than 10k on me because that'd be awesome.

He laughed and said "well let me give you one tip, whatever you do, when you go downstairs (through customs) definitely don't say you play online poker. Say you study or sell insurance or anything except that you're a gambler. It'll save you a lot of trouble."

I said ty ship I get to keep my purple euros? WP TY
if they had found the money on you, there is a high probability they would have deported you back...Customs and CBP guys don't tolerate lying and they have become real as& ho^% about it...

maybe it was just a rogue agent, i dunno.
not a rogue agent, but an un-informed one who made a mistake

but in most countries it would be too dangerous to carry that 10k and prohibitive to play the poker in the first place. me and viffer and you were lucky to be born in the US as opposed to picking a country blindly from a hat... even if that means once in a while we have $59,000 confiscated from us by the police.

Re: warning to high stakes travelers!!

I was at the Flint airport with 25k in my pocket. Was going through the check and she says empty your pockets please because there was a buldge she could see. I yanked it and she says.. oh wait.. don't pull money out. Then she says.. actually let me look at it and she kinda flipped through it because it was thick and wanted to make sure nothing was hidden in it. Then they told me to never pull the money out again.

No I'm pretty sure this is policy. Something about it not being able to be used as currency. It's the equiv if carrying a 50k rolex, but in flags.
