WCG please post some more epic stories about this guy, I think I'm not the only one who wants to hear these

this thread is so funny. I only play live usually during the series and I played probably 3 times with him in June. I remember going to bed one night thinking, "That muha guy was a total douche and should probably off himself." And I didnt just feel like that because he labeled me the poorest.

Makes sense, but not necessarily true. Had some old guy welch on a $5k bet w/ me. Years later I randomly see him on some obscure high stakes poker show and find out he is a billionaire named Alan Smurfit. I was so pissed.

A lot of insanely rich people are the cheapest bastards you will ever come across. Some to the point of scamming. The ones that splash money around and pick up $5k bills at clubs are likely broke and owe everyone money.

2 other bits of advice:

1. You could pretty much never do any kind of business transaction or halfway significant wager with someone you don't know well (and met at a casino) and really never have any regrets, even and especially if it's too good to be true. It's very naive to think someone of muhaha's appearance and personality is naive enough himself to make a terrible wager with the intention of paying up. And if you actually do come across a sucker and you win, the risk of him feeling scammed and the actions he could possibly take out of anger or whatever make it not worth it as well imo.

2. Make it very clear (and be very consistent) that your policy is to "never loan money to anyone." And if you want to loan a friend some money, do it very discreetly/never at the table.
Off all the good advice DGAF has ever posted on this forum, this may be the best, especially the bolded part.

I've lived in Vegas almost five years. Every single friend I have -- including myself -- has been burned loaning money to people. Just don't do it.

As for Muhaha, I've played with him tons over the years. When he's sober and trying to play well he's a nit and definitely wins.

The key, as mentioned, is to get him drinking. Get one scotch in his hand and he will inevitably have three, and then he starts punting. He's usually good for 2-3k at 5/10 and 3-5k and 10/20 before he leaves when he's drunk. But just as important, he will also loosen up the game considerably and put people on tilt with his obnoxious talk. I used to hate playing with him, but now I will sprint to his game when I see him.

But he is also a known scammer. He owes money to several people, and I've seen him be confronted about it at the table on more than one occasion. Definitely do not lend money to him or do any kind of betting/transactions without escrow.

It's more like 40k, but yes, this is true.

pokerfink I don't think he's a winner even sober, but yes he's not that bad just a nit who talks a lot.

His brother is rich but not a billionaire.

Alan might have been broke at the time for all we know.

i ran into this guy on a 1/3 table at the aria last week when he was drunk as ****. thought he was ****ing hilarious rolling over the table and smack talking the **** out of everybody. he jammed the river almost every hand he got into and when they folded be like 'wow you guys must just ****ing hate money. i love 1/3' I ended up stacking him 2 hands in a row after getting AA back to back. I walked by the 10/20 game after he left and he says ' i will pay you any amount of money to sit at this game' so for some stupid ****ing reason I jump in to some ******ed ****ing 5 handed game. We chopped one big pot after he check jams the 9 high flush draw and we run it twice and one hand I think he flat calls heads up then donks into the guy and as he's draggin the pot grabs 2 chips out of it and says 'ohhhh i got kenny tran money wahahahah' and does a little dance

Scammer, makes sense he is friends with Iceman if that tells you anything or last I know they might have scammed each other. I think they have a lot of the same traits in common. He really can be good for the game not for his play but for his talk. He can put a lot of people on tilt esp. the ones that can't take it but think they can.

LOL, just saw this thread.

Ive was in Vegas during WSOP ME and I went for some 5/10 cashgame action at Venetian, where I stayed.

I was having a seat and like 2 minutes after, that guy says to me: "Im Muh - muhhahahaha" and looks at me like it was the funniest thing in the world, he just said.

When he didnt got any reaction, he jammed his elbow in my side stomach and said: "muh/muhaha/muh/muhaha - you got it?". I was like wtf, had to laugh a little, since he really looked like some spaghetti mafia thing.

Then commented, that Ive put up 10k and asked if it was all show off. He knew my type, I would probably sit and fold and fold, just to show my 10k. Then another old man said: "like you do, muh?". Lol he went silent for like 30 seconds.

He told the muh/muhaha joke to the waitress and all other people in the room.

In the game, Ive started to iso-3b him a ton and then c-bet 1/3 pot (or else check down sd value) on flop and usually take it down there.

Then this hand came. He was drinking and had like 4-5k in front of him, I cover.

He opens, i 3b TJ, he calls. TT4tt (75), he check, I c-bet, he calls. Turn was a rainbow K (I think around 185 in pot). Ive bet out 140 and he now jams 4-5k. Ive pretty much snapcalled him and he showed KJoff.

Wp muh, then he said something about money means nothing to him.

I think he was very good for the game and would def join a "muhaha" game, whenever I see it.
