Have they been able to withdrawal? I've seen rumblings about the max cashout is a 2k check but haven't seen anyone actually claim to have received the check and deposited it yet.

I set up a Scotia bank account up in Windsor today fairly easily. Now just need to find a place up here.

Honestly, I'm starting to think that might make it easier.

The main things they grill you about are 1. What ties to do u have to the US, how do we know you wont just stay in canada and disappear since you could since you just play poker.

Having a copy of your lease or mortgage is great here. Also having a wife helps too.

2. How much money do u have? They want to make sure you're not just some douche that watched the WSOP and thinks hes a pro poker player and is going to go up there go broke rip people off mooch off their society.

So screen shots of stars accounts and bank statements/atm reciepts with balanaces.

And just tell them you're planning on coming up for like 5 days then back to your wife you KNOW you cant live there so you are just visiting to play some poker. Make sure they know you aren't trying to take jobs and **** like that.

As far as cashing, with Poker Stars, I took my check to the bank that issued my check, I brought them my ID and paid $15 to have it certified. It took about 10 minutes. After that make sure you get your reciept AND the card of the person that certifies it I thought this was excessive but my bank wanted both, go to your bank and BAM instant cash no week waiting.

If you are setting all of this up this year, are you supposed to declare your bank account with an FBAR before the end of June 2011 or 2012?

Read through the rest of this thread. But simple answer is yes. Generally 10 years post DUI you can get in again. 5-10 years you can apply for admission and maybe get approved to get in.

I wasn't inside for more than 3 minutes.
I crossed the border into Canada for the 6th time in as many weeks. I was sent into immigration 3 of those times. The last two times the immagration officer asked a few questions and sent me on my way...only took a few minutes.

So far so good.

I am crossing at Buffalo, NY into Fort Erie, ON. I assume you are talking about the Nexus card? I decided not to get the card because I am under the assumption the card tracks your crossings alot closer than not having one. I am trying to stay under the radar and stay longer than 180 total days.

I still don't know if it is 180 days from Jan 1st to Dec 31st. Or 180 days from your fist crossing.

Anyone know?

You're passport is scanned every time, for about the last 2 years now (supposed to be, some agents get lazy). This is the reason people with DUI's in the US used to be able to get into Canada a whole lot easier up until 2 years ago and now very little chance. About half of my local poker game can't get into Canada since 2 years ago to play in Montreal because of various offenses, mostly DUI's.

They can track exact dates no matter is you're using passport or NEXUS card. At least with NEXUS card no border agent to talk to (95%+ of the time).

I'm almost positive I read that it's rolling. So, it's 180 days out of any 365 day period. It's on the CA immigration site somewhere.

Not doubting your story at all, but I've made the trip to Windsor, Ontario from Detroit probably 25 times since my DUI and never once even had it mentioned. My DUI was Spring 07, and most of my trips were Fall 07 and throughout 08.

When I told them I was going up to look for a place to live for 6 months, that was a whole different story and much more drama. But the DUI has been 0 issue what-so-ever.

Anyone have experience with a weed possession misdemeanor having problems getting through?

What is the general consensus for best currency to get MB in? Looks like the sites cash out to MB in USD, but wires in USD have to go through the US which could raise some flags right? Little research shows that the exchange rate on MB isn't really bad at all, so going CAD seems best to me, thoughts?

being able to accept incoming VPN connections is not uncommon and doesn't in itself indicate playing remotely

The rate isnt bad but they do some 3% insurance fee incase the rate gets bad lol yeah thats why. but who said a MB USD account goes through the US? U can get US dollar accounts at your canadian ban`k. I assumed it would just go to that one. I dont think they will even let u cahsout to the US.

I just drove 5.5 hours from Chicago to Windsor Canada to try to do the whole moneybookers/UPS box address/VPN move...I got stopped at immigration. This border patrol d bag prick started bringing up my DUI, and then deemed me inadmissable into Canada, adding that I could have been arrested because a DUI is a felony in Canada for 10 years. Ccnt fly there either. I would have to petition the Canadian consolate for special documentation, which just means paying them off for permission to enter their gay ass country

DUI was in spring 07...the ten years starts from the time your probation ends

you sound like a really awesome person
06-04-2011 , 06:30 AM
pretty insane how many people here have DUI's here...
06-04-2011 , 12:57 PM
not really. It doesn't seem like that many people to me. I mean if we had everyone post that DOESN'T have one I think it would put it in perspective.

When I used to work at a casino probably 33% of my co-workers had DUIs. I think certain groups just are more likely to get them. Casino and restaurant workers seems like after work a lot of times everyone hits up a bar.

Seems like getting through is really just about running good as it's up to the discretion of the officers. I think your best bet would be to go through when it's most crowded like 4-7 pm rush hour time as they probably aren't checking very closely then.

I highly recommend calling Moneybookers for anyone trying to get their account setup with them. It's like a totally different experience then dealing with their website. Their website provides very few options for verifying your account and can take 2 days or more to get a response via email. I called their phone number (not toll free but if you have a skype number or something it costs VERY little to make the call) I hit 0 got to an operator with no hold time.

She gave me a few options that the website didn't offer.

#1 I never got my address verification in the mail but she told me that she will send me an email with a ticket number, I scan my utility bill or bank statement and send it in, this will be taken care of.

#2 I said how sending a bank wire was pretty expensive and wondered if they could do something else. She said yes, and that sending a bank wire only increased my account by 5,000 euros, but another option would increase it by 15,000. The other option is, you go to the withdraw tab, you select to withdraw a small amount, she suggested $15. Before when I tried to withdraw the system wouldn't let me because it wanted verification, but when u withdraw a small amount it automatically goes through. Now when this withdrawal hits my bank there will be some kind of VR: code apparently in the statement. I enter that code and will have my limit upped by 15k euros.

Neither of these options were listed on the website. Hopefully this will all go smoothly and I will have my account up and running soon. I wish i would have called them 2 weeks ago now.
