Yea if found this out two days later. Whichever ****face ****bag I talked to at the rio told me they had capped, and were already refunding some players their money. Pretty lame, was the event I was most excited to play out of the entire series.
On a happier note, a lot of the events look like fun this year. Hoping the Re-entries get big prizepools.

on the bright side, the structure was pretty darn awful you really didn't miss much.
Re: ****Official what happened to the rest of May HSNL **** thread ****
for sure cool idea but the execution was pretty horrible. paying 64 instead of 32 was by far the biggest mistake. making the 2nd money tier and not even doubling your money is absurd. and they need to do something about all of the byes. maybe have ppl who got byes start with half as many chips the next round...

Yeah I'd like to hear the reasoning behind having 64 payouts. Most players only needed to win two matches to cash. Perhaps they wanted to entice players to a new event by making it easy to win your buyin back?
The bye problem needs a creative solution. The assumption that it's best to get all of the byes out of the way in the first round could be reconsidered. I suppose the goal to end up with a 64 or 32 player bracket is reasonable, but perhaps pair everyone up for the first few matches and then less players get byes (although worth more in EV) in later matches? Not sure about the best solution here, been thinking about it the past day or two. It just seems absurd that you need to have like 40 tables of players waiting for an hour while the bye situation is figured out.
Understandable to an extent since it's their first year with this event though, I really hope we can see more live HU poker with lower buyins in coming years. I only made 3rd round but was definitely the most fun I've had at a poker table in a long time.

I don't really understand the idea behind the rebuy chips.
It seems like this kind of stuff just confuses players who might consider playing an event they don't specialize in. Probably just somebody trying to be too creative with the HU structure. If they're trying to make it so people can "lose all their chips" and still be in, just make it best two out of three matches. And rather than timed levels, have X hands per level so you can reset the levels when a match on a certain table ends.

Ya, but it was a weird place for Chewy to go. ZJ and others were talking about how Rocco's Modern Life had surprisingly mature humour and Chewy took that to Disney movies, which predated RML by 60-70 years reinforcing racist/sexist stereotypes.

RML has lots of sex jokes in it(http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/archive.../t-128745.html). you can argue that the younger portion of the audience won't catch on to them but i think it's fairly ignorant to assume the subconscious misses stuff like this. i know personally my brother and i both used to watch cartoons quite a bit and would occasionally both agree that certain words were mispronounced as curses, specifically on spongebob, and thats only what we could pick out of the audible portion of the program. my claim is that the kids are going to be effected by the sexual aspect of the show on some level which is unknown to them.

it doesn't seem like a coincidence that society in general has become significantly more sexualized over the course of my life. provocative ads, suggestive mainstream songs, tv/movies etc. teenage girls are the best example imo, who have become significantly more promiscuous over a relatively short period of time which i'm basing mostly on how i see them dress in public. so i guess i just ask myself, do things like this have a positive reflection on society as a whole but i don't think the answer is yes, for me at least.

Seems to be policy that all big bet events that are part/all plo have these rebuy chips, apparently too many people feel bad about getting broke 10 minutes into the tournament and not getting their money's worth?
Re: ****Official what happened to the rest of May HSNL **** thread ****
For you guys lookin for some new Ipod fodder in the WSOP, we just finished mastering our initial EP offering (covered in the 'chasin shootin stars' thread that i have been shamelessly bumping as my own personal blog), and it turned out pretty f4cking awesome if i might say so myself. You can check it out here as a pay what you want download! http://alexeimartov.bandcamp.com/.
I'm gonna do a full write up of the whole experience recording in Chicago and then mixing down in Montreal etc once we have a physical product we can sell with art and such, but but i know the series is on and people are desperate for some TASTY ROCK LOVE to keep their sanity pumping at the table, plus 2+2 is a community so mostly i just want you guys to check out what i've been up to!

Both of these are on Netflix Instant.
The Street Stops Here (8/10 on IMDB)
Follows the legendary high school basketball coach Bob Hurley and the tiny inner-city high-school with 23 state titles in 39 years. This team was ranked #1 in the country with 6 seniors who are future D1 players (including Tyshawn Taylor who is considered a supporting player). Great scenes with Hurley just ripping his players a new one despite being up 40+ points in the first half.
Senna (8.6 on IMDB)
I could care less about car racing, but I think this is one of the most inspiring documentaries ever, much less on Netflix. Great first person race footage chronicling one of the best race car drivers of all time and portraying the will to win at all costs.

Mind Control/subliminal messaging is all but disproven. Spongebob's sexuality on society, lol. I can't believe any smart person would post something this ridiculous. What do we blame the sexual revolution (60's) on? Leave it to Beaver?
