when the apocalypse comes and only the smartest and strongest people survive, scientists will discover an interesting fact: 100% of the survivors love the Wire.

Re: OFFICIAL High Stakes Wire + other awesome TV shows thread
I just finished re-watching season 2, and I noticed an error! In the opening scene of either episode 7 or 8 (don't remember off-hand), there is a montage with the detail working the port case featuring the song "Walk the Line". Prez is moving pictures around the board, and a picture of Cheese is briefly flashed on the screen. Below his picture, it is written; "Melvin Flagstaff - aka Cheese". Of course, it is stated numerous times throughout the series that his name is Melvin Wagstaff!
I am deeply upset at this error, as it's the only one I've ever caught on The Wire. Has anyone else caught a similar mistake?

I recall reading somewhere initially they wanted to make it so that Randy (who comes later obv) had some connection to Cheese. They later squashed that, hence changing the Wagstaff and Flagstaff.
About Ziggy: I didn't say he wasn't interesting, I'm just saying he sucks.

I'd be suprised if there was anything more to it than Ziggy just thinking he looked cool lighting a cigarette with a bill. I think you pretty much get why he does it, the lack of respect and maybe feeling more pressure than your average stevadore to be respected on the docks because of who his father is, and possibly even because his cousin gets a lot of respect. He's pretty much the family joke at home and on the docks, and it burns him.

Re: OFFICIAL High Stakes Wire + other awesome TV shows thread
yea i think ziggy is one of the few cases of the wire overtly telling you why someone is doing what they're doing

Re: OFFICIAL High Stakes Wire + other awesome TV shows thread
I have the wire season 1 on my computer, but I can't stand that image quality. I think it's 4:3 and there's this weird annoying strip at the top, is that normal? Does it get better at some point?
Anybody seen Generation Kill? It's a miniseries from the creators of the wire I believe, worth it imo.

In my rewatching of the wire, I noticed something:
