I played in a World Poker Finals event a while back and made the final table. First prize was ~$30k and 2nd was ~$16k.

When it was heads up we agreed I would get ~$26k and my opponent would get $20k. However, my opponent wanted to be listed as the official winner and get the trophy. The floor and tourney director witnessed this. They also supported this since they got to end the tournament early and go do other things.

Tournaments must be played until someone had all the chips. So, I got all the money in and folded for my more bet. Repeat until I busted.

I've played in tourneys in LV and other places and they have always modified the payments in accordance with the agreement.

I was in for a surprise. They issue you a slip and the cashier is a 10 minute walk from the ballroom where the tourney was held. his slip said $30k and my slip said $16K.

I asked the tourney director to send someone with us to enforce the agreed payout. His response was that it was the players' responsibility to adjust the payments afterwards. I was never told this when the tournament was going on.

Lucky for me my opponent held up his end of the agreement afterwards. I'd hate to think what would happen if I physically tried to take $10k from him at the cashier cage.

In the future before you do any chop in a tourney, you should always find out if the casino sanctions and enforces any deals made. Basically meaning will the casino oversee and enforce the deal, or do they not and it's up to the players to settle the deal amongst themselves after the event is over.

This has civil lawsuit written all over it. I'd start suing everyone. FW might have more $$ to fight, but do they really want the bad pub? Sue everyone that was involved...opponent, The Horse, floorman, casino, anyone else you can find that is involved.

Before you do any of that stuff, you should just make an appointment with someone higher up at Foxwoods, explain things, be contrite, say its misunderstanding not blaming, willing to put the past behind, want be a loyal customer again.

much more likely to work out for you.

Why would you even say or have any correspondence with anyone higher up at FW?
If he is seriously planning a civil suit, I wouldn't have any contact with any employee at FW, especially if it involves the situation.

At this point the dealer was about to burn the next card so I stopped him and asked my opponent if he wanted to do the equity chop. He said "Yes." I asked him if he understood what it is and why we're doing it. He said "Yes." I asked him a second time if he agrees to the equity chop. He again agreed.

HE DIDNT SAY YES THE THIRD TIME

There is your AHA moment...

i've been to fw maybe 10 times and never seen more than a few people casually observing. i've "railed" a few times just to see if the game was any good and worth putting my name on the 7+ person wait list.

i guess i have to start coming on weekends then. that's the thing, whenever i'm home for break from school no matter what we party thurs-sat night (as we do at school) so i only end up going on the weeknights and the games generally just aren't 'that good.' after last time when i lost a couple bi over 6 hours at 2/5 and won it back + more in 2 hours online when i got home i swore to myself i wouldn't go unless i was seriously trying to play higher and actually make money. i've just been going when my friends ask me to and i go just to have fun, but i find that if i don't win 'a lot' or end up losing, i'm just miserable for wasting a night i could have had having fun with all of my friends.

dont mean to derail, guess we need a FW thread heh but to be fair i have had a good time going win or lose. hope HEK update's us with any info, i really can't see him being banned for too long because of this as long as you take the most appropriate steps to get reinstated.

So you got to final 2, were in the chip lead, and yet agreed not only to do the deal but let your opponent have his name on the winner's trophy!?!?!?

What, you were playing Phil Ivey or something???

I mostly play at the Sun now but I don't remember people railing the five/ten at Foxwoods and I always played weedends. Lots of people would rail the ten/twenty-five. I guess it's the ten/twenty now, based on this thread. I remember people railing the five/five when it was the only no-limit game and when it was a pot-limit game.

I think people rail the biggest game, or the biggest NL game. So maybe they railed the five/ten when the ten/twenty-five wasn't running.

I'm kind of looking for a reason to go to Mohegan one of these days instead of Foxwoods. Just curious as for you, why did you switch? Fwiw I play 2/5 and 5/10.

From Borgata Blog Spot:

Leading the way going into Day Three is Highland, NY's Franky Flowers. Although Flowers is traditionally a Poker Open regular, this is his first 2009 WPO tournament and he sits atop the chip counts with a $847,500.

haha classic franky flowers...

I have done the equity chop there and in other casinos a few times with no problems, and i was only playing 2/5 when i did... surprising that high stakes players would run a scam like that...

also flowers cheating at the 10/20 game.. thats new news to me.. i am sure that upset people

They probably think people will rebuy and put more money on the table and if they wont, some1 will fill their seat... foxwoods is packed often

Also, if they allow this to happen it may get abused and slow the game down... not that their dealers arent slow enough as it is

Was looking at going back down to FW in the next few weeks as a repeat of a weekend grinding trip we did last month, definitely going to MS instead now as a result of this post. I am not a high stakes player by any means, but it is the principle of the matter.

Can someone explain what happened with the foxw00ds player account? Did it get linked to another one by the mods or something? Is there a back story in another thread that I missed?

If they want you to leave, then they can make you leave. They can't make you sign anything. It never, ever helps you to sign something under duress.
Maybe he got to cash out his chips in return.
