Honestly broke degens luckboxing giant tourneys to get out of debt and then getting media coverage is so +EV for poker. I'm rooting for JRB and Erick.

Is JRB really in the same boat as Erick?

Erick is a likeable broke degen that tricked people into making loans he could not cover.

JRB is a likeable broke dege that people knew was broke when they lent him money.

BIG DIFFERENCE

I'm not real close to this scene and certainly don't know the whole truth. However, I can't begin to believe that FTP paid this guy $250,000/month to wear FTP garb and play poker. Thats absurd! I believe that they could have gotten just about any named pro for about 5k/month and a few buy-ins to their tournies. Just don't think E-dog or anyone else is quite worth 8k/day. Perhaps someone can explain exactly how, and how much, they were compensated.

It's called ownership shares edog had 5-10% iirc.

Then why is it said that he owe's FTP millions. Is that borrowed money over and above the 250k/month he was paid?
06-11-2012 , 08:53 PM
How much were these players paid? Do you suppose they also got 3m/yr. LOL.

John Juanda
Jennifer Harman
Phil Gordon
Erick Lindgren
Erik Seidel
Andy Bloch
Mike Matusow
Gus Hansen
Allen Cunningham
Patrik Antonius
Tom Dwan

All the info I have is from several FTP threads. I don't claim any of it is 100% correct. If I'm wrong hopefully someone corrects me.

Some pros were fronted funds to play in the high stakes games. Some of these loans were several years old so they didnt really keep great tabs on them. Obviously, if FTP was ran correctly they would've started deducting his dividends from his loan but sadly that was not the case.

No, most had less ownership shares than edog. Some like Matusow had no ownership(this could be wrong) shares so were paid significantly less.

Yeah I mean. There's just no telling all the different stories that surround those loans.

I know that it's a long time to keep your money tied up, but there is no way that I would play in a high stakes fantasy league with poker players without an escrow. I also would play in any format except draft and hold. There's just too many people out there willing to collude and gamble with money they don't have.

ft sweat!

he prolly needs to win a FT of this size 20 times over to get cleared

LETS GO!

I find it sickening that DN defends Erick as simply "old school" here. It's one thing to rip off someone that lends you money. It is still disgusting, but default is an inherent risk in a loan. It's another thing to commit outright fraud and gamble with money you don't have like Erick has done with the credit of his name. Sports betting with random 2+2 people and obviously willing to collect if he wins but has no money if he loses is just sickening and the fact that the face of PS defends this person is troublesome for me.

sidetrack a bit, how are we gonna do it this year to avoid issues like this coming up again (I'm aware that its far away but with NBA done I have nothing to do anyways)

nothing amazes me more than when 2+2 accounts that average < 5 posts per year make stuff like this their moment to shine. certainly crazier ones out there with 5 year old accounts and 2 posts like this total but i still get a kick out of it

Atleased they limit themselves to one or two pointless post/year. We dont need anymore kevmodes running around.

Guy in my cashgame says "look, a new guy worth 5 or 6 million is playing the 10/20 right now"

Our hero is the new guy worth 5 or 6 million.

I currently do not have the heart to bring my cashgame friend into the light.

live player primarily for 13 years and ran casinos from several houses in south Florida - I have owed money to multiple people and am still owed money from multiple people.

I can safely say that the only people I didn't pay back in last 13 years (2 people) were the ones that brought my financial/ personal business out in public. I read about 5 pages of this thread looking for someone else that said the same thing. Surprised I haven't found one. If you guys don't trust him or don't know him personally why the hell you put money up with him. And then you cry about it on here. I don't know what to say but it seems a bit stupid.

I can guarantee that when he gets a big bunch of money together he makes sure to put all the guys on 2+2 airing his and your personal business to the world at the very back of the line.

And all these guys that act tough like they would go after him are just talking... The ones that do those things don't talk about it.. They just show up at a red light (my style). for the guys I owe and will never pay I just get a 45 for the house and a 45 for the Lexus. Never had to use em and everyone I deal with loves me. The 2 people that I used to owe money to and will never pay made the mistake you all are making. This is not how the world works. Take a psychology class and read "how to win friends and influence people".

Just trying to help

It would seem stupid to you since you somehow believe if people take your debts public that means you don't have to pay them back.

Not really. He already paid back one of the debtors ITT. Threads like this have been very successful over the years at getting people to pay back debts. Way more so than just sitting on your ass hoping they win the lotto.

Surely you also realize that the point of this thread is not just to get paid back, but to also warn other people from getting scammed.

I'm sure everyone loves you. Except the guys who you owe money to, and especially the ones who made it public. They probably don't like you so much. But hey, at least you haven't shot anyone.

You definitely have. It's nice to get inside the mind of a scumbag who doesn't pay people back when he owes them money.
