All of this stuff requires a lifetime of dedication though. And I share your views completely - I want to discover the secrets of the universe, and spend years traveling the world, and write a book encompassing the history of civilization and the rise and fall of empires while trying to figure out what it all says about the human condition, and become a leading designer of tons of kickass videogames.
But, like, even doing one of those (aside from traveling obv, which requires money) is insanely difficult and requires 20+ years of dedication. And while these are all somewhat romanticized ideas we have in our heads about the things we want to do/become, I sure as hell hated my physics/chemistry classes in college. On the way to becoming an expert in a field like that, which would certainly be awesome and interesting, there's still a ton of boring, grinding work to do.
