10 – 25 NL game. 8 handed. I am in early position and limp with 66. Guy to my right just sat down and makes it 150. Woman to his left flats. Two other callers and I call. Flop comes Q76. I had just lost a big pot and quickly reloaded so I seemed, and was, kinda steaming. I check. He bets like 500. Woman was short stack and visibly frustrated and goes all in for only 1250. Fold. Fold. I think and call.
Guy to my right tanks forever and makes it 3500. I have 5k behind. He has me covered. I push and he quickly calls.
1. How would you have played it preflop? Is a limp as the first action just too passive? Even if I raise and he re-raises me, I would still probably call for set mining purposes.
2. Since we were so deep, is there anyway you fold bottom set with the action the way it went? Or is that totally dependent on player read?
3. Do you just call once he raises to 3500? Or is fold / all in the only moves?
I shouldnt be posting here, I just poked my nose in to see what you guys were discussing; so take this for what it is.
I think your push is just fine. You will be expecting to be called. But hes not limited to just QQ here. I think hed take the same action with AA and KK. I can see AA KK QQ all being played the same here, with QQ sometimes just calling the AI in an attempt to keep you in and disguize his hand. ***Maybe*** he plays AQ in the same way, but that would need player history and reads to seriously consider that. I would think 10/25 gets some pretty soft spots playing in those games sometimes that would play like that.
I dont really see 77 as being a big possiablility. But its in the mix. So you have one hand that beats you that you expect to see the most (out of the hands that beat you), one hand that beats you that you dont expect to see very often. And two hands that you beat that youd expect to see pretty often, and one hand that you beat that you dont expect to see very often. I think you are doing well against his range here, for an unknown. Obv reads and history can/will change things.
I think its a great play to raise any pair UTG. It balances your range and disguises your sets amazingly when hit. Unfortunately you got coolered and ran into set over set. Don't ever worry about coolers in the long run it won't affect you as long as you are playing with proper bankroll management within your appropriate stake over time.

yea and the woman must have been sittin on his lap.lol
Sigh, I see the douchebags post here and not just in BBV or NVG.
Lady had AQ and guy to my left had QQ.
Thanks to those who replied with tips and their perspectives. I posted a fun tr from AC where this hand was played in BBV for those who want to read a degen tr.
you call and push is fine what you did
or better is
you all in when short stack woman pushes...to protect
if he snaps you, you're beat
This is most likely set over set and you can't get away from it...the short stack woman all in messed up any chance for you to get away from bottom set
