n France, it is common practice to state, within the service agreement, that the employee shall devote all his working time to the performance of his duties, that he will not have any other professional occupation of any kind, remunerated or not, on his own behalf or on behalf of any person or legal entity. Furthermore, under French employment law ("Code du travail"), the employee has a duty of loyalty vis-à-vis his employer. There is also the possibilty to include post termination restrictive covenants within the service agreement, like non solicitation of employees or non solicitation of customers.
Copied the above from some website by some french lawyer (learned how to cite in college)
