Provocative Idea For The Women's Tournament Provocative Idea For The Women's Tournament

Posting this on NVG and TWSS:

Just had an idea with both obvious upsides and downsides. But it might create some buzz.

To keep woman's tournaments legal, the WSOP and perhaps others, allowed males to play if they paid ten times as much for the same starting chips. And of course none do. But what if they were charged only twice as much?

I think a lot of men would play if the entry fee was 2k instead of 10k. Pretty much anyone playing a full schedule with buyins of 50k+ over the summer might be tempted, but many of them would realize how douchy it is and would abstain.

I don't understand the point of your idea. The WSOP accomplished what it set out to do (to the joy of most women who play in women's tournaments), so what is the point of lowering the buy in to an amount that might entice some men to buy in to the event? What do you mean by "it might create some buzz?" About what? For what purpose?

He answers this in the NVG thread. It is primarily to create some noise about poker so someone in the media will pay attention. I'd hazard a guess that DS is in the "no publicity is bad publicity" camp.

Thanks. Checked it out. It's such a tired argument, I think I'll just keep my comments to myself.
