PokerStars Women's Sunday

The first PokerStars Women's Sunday event took place yesterday, and it was a success! More than double the guarantee, four PS Pros participated with bounties on their heads, and luzzzy won more than $2K for her victory.

(Recap here.)

We'd love to know what the women of poker thought of the tournament. Did you play? Did you aim for one of the bounties? How was the table chat?

For those looking for information on the weekly tournament, here's a clip from the PS Women page:

PokerStars Weekly Women’s Tournament Every Sunday

Win a Free PokerStars Women Live Package!

To celebrate the launch of the Women’s Sunday, all players that enter the tournament in March and April (see terms below) will be entered into an exclusive free-to-play tournament at 13:00 ET, Saturday May 7. The winner will be awarded a PokerStars Women Live event package worth $3,500!

Sunday is the biggest day of the week for online poker tournaments, and now female PokerStars players have their very own exclusive big-money event. The Women’s Sunday runs every week at 13:00 ET, with a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000!

The tournament has a direct buy-in of $55, but you can win your seat for less with satellites running every day, starting from $2.20. You can even enter for free with the weekly freeroll qualifier every Saturday at 13:00 ET.

As an added bonus, there will be a Team PokerStars Pro playing every week, each with a $50 bounty on their head. This means that you not only get to play and chat alongside names like Liv Boeree, Vanessa Rousso and Vanessa Selbst, but you also earn cash if you knock them out of the tournament (not sure which player’s are Team Pros? They can be identified by a red spade logo next to their name in the tournament lobby and at the tables). Don’t miss out on playing what looks set to be the biggest women-only tournament anywhere online. Qualify now!

How to Play the Women’s Sunday

The Women’s Sunday takes place every Sunday at 13:00 ET, with a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000. You can buy-in directly for $55, or win your seat via any of the daily satellites running at the times and dates listed below.

Free + $1 Rebuy, Saturdays, 13:00 ET
$2.20 + Rebuy, Daily, 13:00 ET & 19:30 ET
$5.50, Daily, 15:30 ET & 21:30 ET
$11, Daily, 17:30 ET

To buy-in or register for a satellite, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Tourney’ & ‘All’.

Yup, I played!
Happy that we have this tournament!
I did have Liv, Vanessa and Charlotte at my tables at some point.
I usually have many tables up so I am normally not a chatter, but for this one I put the chat window open. Not much chat however at any of my tables.

Hoping this will continue, glad it got double the players needed for the guarantee :) Excited for all the womens' initiatives by Stars...looking forward to what they do next!

I was busy yesterday and did not play but I certainly plan on playing in the future. I think it's great Stars is specifically making an effort to get more women involved in poker. Thanks!!!!

This will definitely continue! We'll have the Women's Sunday each week, and we look forward to providing more opportunities for women. :)

We'll be here whenever you're able to join us! Every Sunday... and don't forget the satellites throughout the week. ;)

Too big for my BR right now to buy in, but I think I will try a couple of the satties. Sounds like fun. Do you know what the payout was for yesterday and how many ppl played??

Edit - never mind on the question, went back and read the recap. thx.

I played, and I loved it. I was really dissapointed when you changed the structure of last years tournaments. .10 and dollar daily tournaments end up playing more like freerolls and most don't take them seriously which make them pointless to play. I know the thought is that they will bring in more women who are hesitant about playing for money. But a 1 dollar and 10 dollar daily option seems more legit imo.

Glad you liked the Women's Sunday. Hope to see you there again. I will relay your message of the lower buy-ins to the powers that be. Thanks for letting me know!

Re: PokerStars Women's Sunday

Please make the $55 Sunday a bit later so that I can fit it into my schedule (assuming I am not the only one who feels this way). :) 10am on the west coast is just too early to make it since I don't stop loading tables until 10pm.

+1

I think it makes sense to run it closer to the other Sunday Majors instead of so much earlier.

Thanks for all the useful feedback on the Women's Sunday, and some good ideas for PokerStars women's tourneys.

We're carefully considering the time the Women's Sunday is scheduled as plenty of people have mentioned this, I'll let everyone know here as soon as we have news. Good luck to all who play on Sunday. :)

Re: PokerStars Women's Sunday

We're happy to announce that the guarantee of the Women's Sunday will be raised to $10,000 from April 17th. We'll also be moving the tournament to 14:30 ET as of this date, a time that is more in line with the timing of our other Sunday Majors, and hopefully this will suit players in more time zones.

We'll be keeping the popular Team Pro bounties, and you can read a tourney report on PokerStars blog each week to keep up with who's winning. We've added a few more lower buy-in qualifiers, so hopefully more women will get a chance to play.

Good luck to all taking part, and thanks to all who've made suggestions for our women's tourneys. :)

Hooray for a later start time! Many thanks from a late-sleeping west coaster. Love this tournament (and hopefully I'll last longer than 2 levels next time I play) ;)
