I have been thinking we have needed this thread for a while now...
I appreciate food presentation, as well as seeing things that everyone makes in their own kitchens. I know for a fact that I am not the only one who takes photos of their meals...

So how about we make a place for it? This thread can be recipes, restaurant reviews, tips, PHOTOS (obv) and anything else YUMMY!!!!!

Yay food! I am contributing restaurant recommendations for a poker-related site (LV fine dining and LV casual on-Strip dining already posted, LV off-Strip coming soon), so I've been writing and thinking about food a lot lately!

I suck at cooking, so you can safely assume that any pics I post are from a restaurant

How cool. I used to write restaurant reviews for a small-ish paper before I moved to Vegas. When I went to culinary school, it was with the eventual goal of being a food writer, but then I fell in love with poker!

A typical meal for a night when I only have 15 minutes to make dinner-- turkey burgers w/sirachi and avocado, and a salad with broccoli, spring onions, feta, cherry tomatoes, corn and balsamic. Basic but good.

I realize that the pic is poor quality (sry), but I took this Saturday before heading to the strip just to post here.

Crabcakes on an argula & quinoa salad, with roasted red pepper sauce, and sauteed artichoke hearts.



Was great, but I made way too much, as I hadn't made them since culinary school. Think I'm going to freeze the leftovers for Thanksgiving and make mini-crab cake hors d'oeuvres. I like my crab cakes with the smallest amount of binding possible, and before pan-frying I dredge them in semolina flour a bit of crunch.

Opening this thread was a bad idea, I got another hour before I land and I'm starving


Since thanksgiving is coming up who wants to give me ideas for the potluck I'm participating in, I'm drawing a blank as to what to make.

One of our recent family favs is a Carmel Apple Salad. It's quick and easy to make, tastes great and pretty dang healthy for ya to boot.

4 medium sized apples
1 can of crushed pineapple (in juice not syrup)
1 tub of cool whip
1 small package of butterscotch pudding

Set the cool whip out to thaw (or defrost in the microwave if you're pressed for time. just don't over do it). Then core and slice the apples and dump them into a bowl. Add the pineapple (after you've drained it), cool whip and the pudding. Stir it up, chill, serve and sit back and await the compliments.

This has become my go to dish for pot lucks where I'm not BBQing a tri-tip or something.

I have been in Houston for Thanksgiving for the past week and have been eating a lot!
Every time I come here a decent portion of the time is spent in restaurants because my mom is a TV & radio personality and journalist here on FOX 26 News in the mornings and then she also has a radio show on Talk 650/CBS Radio, and her beat is Food, Dining, Restaurants.

Lunch at Fadi's, which is mediterranean/arabic food. This is my most favorite food in the world and this one of my favorite places. Feel very 'at home' there!

My mom had the Filet eggs benedict at Perry's.


Cranberry muffins with honey butter and fruit.


All veggie sandwich at Five Guys with cheese, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, grilled bell peppers, tomatoes, ketchup, relish. One of my absolute favs!


We also went to a private party at the new Churrascos restaurant opening in Sugar Land next week. The huge tree/lamp/lanterns were just so beautiful. Never seen anything like them before!

I'm so glad i'm not the only one who takes pictures of their food. I have no idea how i'm not 400 pounds. I love food soooooo much.
