Ok ladies, it seems we may have enough interest in a FFL so I'm going to try and get things going The league will be set up on Yahoo as a head to head league with teams starting a QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR/RB, TE, K, and D. 6 points per TD, all other scoring standard. Unfortunately a lot of the good live draft times are already gone but tentatively we're probably looking at sometime the first week of September, unless the majority here would rather do an autopick draft.

SGT RJ has kindly offered to act as escrow for the league - an amount has not yet been decided on but I will propose either $10 or $25 as a good starting point. Invites will only be sent once payment is received and we will cap the league at 10 on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate your interest here as well as the amount you would prefer. So far we have tentative interest from the following TWSS'ers:

Aimee
SGT RJ
CKBWoP
Pokerella
JMurder3
puremorning (?)

I'll set the league up once we have at least eight players and the stake has been decided. Gogogo

Dunno how I'd get $ to RJ what with Black Friday and all, but whatever y'all wanna do is cool.

Alternatively, we could do a league not for $, but I'm sure I could arrange for the winner to get an undertitle. Up to y'all.

Yeah I mentioned in the other thread that money transfer is an obvious logistical issue, but I can receive via Amazon marketplace (which is really easy to set up for those who don't have it yet) or PayPal.

$10 or $25 would be fine with me. A little more like $50 probably up to $100 would be fine for me as well, but I honestly don't care about it for the money and would participate in a free league as well.

And obviously I'm interested.

Standard drafting or is this going to be a suicide pool (having to choose a match-up winner each week, can never pick the same team twice)? The later would be less intimidating for those who don't know a ton of players, the former is obviously your traditional FF format.

Yeah, I went with some lower amounts just to make sure we get enough interest, but I wouldn't mind going higher if that's what everyone wants to do. Obv a free league is an option too but in my experience people start forgetting to set teams etc. if there aren't any stakes involved.

I was just planning to set it up as a standard league - I've never actually tried the suicide format & I'm not even sure I saw it as an option on Yahoo (though I could be wrong on that ).

I don't think a suicide pool is technically FF, so that's probably why. Standard format is standard.

I want to do this, but I have no idea what is currently going on these days in the NFL. Any rules against ghosting?

If there isn't enough interest in a tradition FF league, a suicide pool may be a good way to go since it's much easier to understand.

Basically you have to pick a one team to win each week. The catch is, you cannot pick the same team twice. Once you pick incorrectly, you're out of the pool (unless we were to allow rebuys, which I have seen but is usually only done within the first two weeks if at all). Last person standing wins.

Obviously you end up having to try to pick some weaker teams (for example, picking a winner in the Browns/Bengals matchup in Week 1 even if you are sure that a very good team like the Pats or the Colts are going to crush their match-up that week) so that if you go deep you can have a couple of juggernauts standing at the end of the year (in case two or more people make it all the way to the end and have to keep picking into the playoffs).

The other option would be a week by week traditional "pick the winners" game where you put in $5 a week, everyone picks the winners of all the match-ups, and the whoever picks the most winners that week wins all da dough (with the traditional tiebreaker being picking the point total/score for the Monday night game).

Any of these would be a good way for people to get involved if they find drafting a traditional FF team to be a little daunting.

I'd be happy with any league.

Yeah I don't really care either way, any of them including a traditional FF league would be fun. Just trying to get some more people interested.

No, see, I'm not running things, I only want to participate.

Although if all else fails I would be willing to run a suicide pool or a weekly pick 'em league, since those both require a lot less involvement.

Running an actual FF league, tho, no dice. I'm trying to finish drafts of the first three chapters of my dissertation by the end of September.

Alright, looks like a league won't get off the ground this time around. Maybe next year when we have more TWSS'ers

Don't know how I totally missed this thread, but I'm in!

.... although I've never done FFL in my life before

Lol literally have no experience whatsoever (just love watching NFL), but I'd be down for whatever stakes (pref smaller cuz I'm def -EV in this, lol) and any style, though I was very slightly leaning towards traditional? I wouldn't mind suicide or week-to-week either if ppl have strong preference.

Hooray! Draft time will be Sept 7 at 6:45 pm EST - pretty much the best time we could get given the season starts on the 8th. If you are unable to make the draft time, however, Yahoo will let you set your draft preferences beforehand and the computer will choose for you.

If anyone else would like to play, we can accept more players as long as the final number is even and payment is received prior to the draft. PM me if interested. Let's just stick to $10 since we have a lot of newer players, although I'd be willing to bump it up if everyone in the league agrees. League invites will be sent once payment is received, and a PM will be sent shortly to all interested parties with details on making payment. I also can accept transfers on Lock Poker and make sure the funds are transferred to SGT RJ if you would prefer that to PayPal/Amazon. Standard payout structure is 50/30/20 so I think we should stick with that. Happy to answer any questions for the newer players, I promise it's not as intimidating as it might first seem Thanks!

PMs have been sent, so please let me know if you did not receive one. Also, in case it wasn't clear, everyone seemed to lean toward a standard FFL structure, so the details in my OP will stand. Registration will stay open until the draft so PM if anyone else is interested.
