Hello. I'm Joanne. I started playing poker in 2006. I live in Texas, where poker is not legal. They have a lot of "free leagues" which is entertaining, and a fun way to spend a night but you can't call it poker.

There are, um, underground rooms. I tend to avoid those since I have a license issued by the state of Texas which I hope to keep because my kids like to eat and wear clothes.

I play home games when my budget allows. I don't like online poker. I like the interactive, in person element. (That could be why I am a therapist).

My favorite are tournaments, and I have done well in the relatively few professional ones I've played.

As my name suggests, I made a complete metamorphasis at mid-life. I graduate from graduate school in December and am researching my Ph. D. options now.

I hope to play a "real" tournament again soon.

Hello everyone. My name is Alan and Katie (hotjenny314) suggested I introduce myself to the group.

I'm an openly gay male casual poker player. I played online for a couple of years (before Black Friday, of course) and am just starting to play live poker.

I live in Maine but work in politics so while my partner is home taking care of our farm I'm in Orlando working on a campaign. On Sundays (my day off) I'm starting to head down to the Hard Rock in Tampa to play 1/2 NL. So far I feel like my biggest success has been figuring out which garage I parked in after I played the first time as well as not giving in to the unexpected cold and buying a Hard Rock sweatshirt.

Like many people I of course dream of playing poker for a living, but in reality I'm very happy having a comfortable life and being good at the career I chose, so my real goals are to improve my play and understanding of NLHE and to enjoy myself at the same time.

Some of you I'm sure saw my thread earlier about dealing with homophobic remarks at live play, but for those that didn't I gravitated toward this forum in hopes of getting a good perspective of dealing with live play in a straight male environment.

Welcome! I hope you find this a good forum for you. I can't speak for the mods, but I know I'd have no problems if you (or any other members of the LBGT poker community) want to use this forum to post threads you think pertain to your experiences in poker as well. Anytime you are part of a very small minority within a larger group it can sometimes be a difficult experience.

Hi All! I'm a long time lurker and figured it was about time I introduced myself.

I've played poker pretty much since I was kid... started playing for money in my ex-husband's friend's home game NLHE MTTs. Won several. We split up and I was laid-off from the automotive industry about 3 years ago. Began playing micro stakes at Stars in January, but obviously that didn't last long! My bankroll is pretty small, seeing as how I've only been able to find part-time employment and just put myself through a certification program at the local community college. I've recently played 3 small buy-in live MTTs and finished 20th, 5th (we chopped, I was chip leader... kinda got bullied into it.) and 4th.

Nice meeting everyone!

Thanks for the welcome! I have to say, as nervous as I was in the beginning of the tourneys, it wore off quickly and I had a great time. Loved that the guys I played with assumed I would never pull off a bluff and respected my post flop re-raises after awhile. Of course, this was low stakes and the players were bad IMO. Charity room poker FTW.

I'm so glad to introduce myself to the forum. I'm a beginner - just started playing online 10/20cent 6max cash games. I'm a recent grad school grad (special high for solidarity Midlyfechrysalis/Joanne) and will be back to ft work soon. Poker's a fun distraction/recreation for me and appeals to my naturally competitive businesswoman.

My other interests include yoga, a vegan lifestyle, reading and travel. I love 2+2 for providing a varied and hilarious insight.

Hi everyone - been lurking on 2+2 for awhile now but just recently found TWSS. My name is Sheri and I live in the Philadelphia area. I never considered vet school but my daughter would like to be a vet someday, so that probably counts.

I'm pretty much obsessed with poker but frustrated because I don't have enough time to devote to it. I have a very fulfilling day job and a family so I have to try to balance it all. I prefer MTTs but also play some 1-2 NLH occasionally. I find the best competition in my area is at the Borgata, however, the fields are much softer at Delaware Park (and it's closer) so I often play there. And when I say often, I mean maybe once or twice a month.

Would like to take a shot at one of the lower buy-in ($1000 or $1500) NLH events at the WSOP in 2012 so hope to meet some of you there!

Hi, Sheri!

There are women who post here from your area. I moved to Vegas from DC a few months ago. The funny thing is that I still miss the Borgata poker room sometimes.

I will def be at the 2012 WSOP, so I look forward to meeting you.

Hey everyone, cool thread

I just wanted to say hi....my names Alison, im an aussie!. I am 26 years old and I hold a degree in Sport Management and work full time as a sport development officer.

I have been playing poker for about 2 years now, I play on pokerstars under PassDaaSuga, mainly SnGs and Mtts. I am one of those people who would love to take poker seriously but finding the time around social and work life is quite hard. Oneday hopefully I will get there, I still have alot to learn.

I am pretty much the only girl I know who loves playing poker, I really wish i knew more girls who i could go play with and it would be great to make new friends on here and chat about poker because all my friends arent really interested in it lol.

I have only recently joined 2+2 so any groups I can join or if people want to chat I am up for it

GL on the felt girlsss

Well might as well jump in too!:P

I'm Tatiana! I'm 27 years old and I'm from Portugal.

I'm a stay-at-home mom ( of a gorgeous 4 year old little princess:P) and i've been playing Poker for about 2 years.
Been more of a donator thus far, mostly because I never played "seriously", always been more of a recreational thing to do, and not having the time - or mind, with a hyper little one - to focus on really learning the game properly I mainly played as a hobby, but working on improving and taking my game on to a better level, now that my little one is older and thus allows me more time to myself.
I'm a bookworm by nature so I've been basically "devouring" all the poker books I can get my pretty nails on, and working my way through this amazing well of knowledge of a forum!!

That about sums it up i guess...

Kiss some ass at those tables girls!
May your wins be many and large!:P

Hello Everyone, I am Cindy and I used to play on PokerStars and FTP as Gwyneth2112, and currently on RPM (Merge) as LaVillaStrangiato. I have been playing poker since November 2008. I am 48 and I live in Denver, Colorado. I did fairly well in the PokerStars Women's League Tournaments (I was 5th overall in 2011), and I miss those tournaments; especially the $55's.

Since BF I have had decent success transitioning to live tournament play...I played a series @ Downstream Casino in Oklahoma, a selection of Ladies only events in Vegas during WSOP in late June/early July (including the WSOP Ladies), and several series here in Black Hawk, Colorado which is my local mainstay. Twenty-five tournaments so far, with buy-ins from $60 - $1000, six Final Tables (one HU Chop) and two additional cashes. I mainly play NLHE, but I have played 2 - 7 TD, Razz, and Stud8 tournaments also.

I started college as an Animal Science major back in the day (another horse crazy girl, I wanted to manage a stud farm), but ended up dropping out. I have shown Morgan horses at the National level in the past, but don't own any horses these days.

I haven't posted on 2+2 much because it is so huge and I have been feeling a bit intimidated by it.

Nice to meet you all.

Hi Cindy! So glad to meet someone else who has a different screen name than their actual name.

I really miss the PokerStars $55 tourneys too. Looking forward to reading your posts!
