Actually I am moving from the Bay to Westside LA as we speak. Hopefully we'll finalize an apartment tomorrow.

I probably left out a few other things in my intro as well. I am married to a very wonderful woman. We got in just before Prop 8 passed here in California and had a nice ceremony in the City Hall rotunda in SF.

I actually had a thread in OOT about getting married, and another where i "came out" but I'll have to search the archives and see where they are buried these days. Sometimes I forget that there are a lot of folks on the forum who weren't around when I posted all that stuff and don't "know" me as well as I think.

Re: The Lady Across the Table-Introduction Thread

Hi everyone!

I have been lurking around 2 +2 on and off for a little while, and am so happy that you all are here --

I am a recreational player and a newbie at that -- playing NLHE online (mostly the FT matrix recently), but I really love playing live, and have played in a pub poker (MTT) league kind of deal now and again. I gotta give props to the women who are confident enough to walk into a casino solo and play.

My real job is as a Curator, and I use poker lots of nights as a way to relax. Anyway, it's great to "meet" so many poker chicks!!!

Congrats on the move! I'm not close to West LA but I head out to Santa Monica every so often to hang out on the Promenade~

Heh, damn JK Rowling. Has nothing to do with Harry Potter.

I've had this SN on the internet since 1995. Has always been.
It's a Star in Orion and translates loosely as female warrior.

Heart WOW! How did I not know about That's What She Said?!

Hi All!!!

I'm new to 2+2. I didn't know they had a forum for women. How exciting! It seems like a really good idea and I've been dying to get to know more women players who take the game serious. I play mostly rush and MTTs on Stars and FTP (under LauraFelix). If any of you have blogs let me know I'd love to follow.

(Sorry this may not have warranted a thread all on it's own, but I wanted to introduce myself since this will be my new favorite distraction from work.)

I knew that! (Okay - Rowling said that's where she got the name for her female warrior villain - so really she knew that!) So, I guess I'll just assume you are a star rather than a villain but still a warrior!

Oh, maybe I am a villain you never know...
But yes, it was always the star. I'm an astronomer in my other "real" life when I'm not playing poker, so...

In real life, it has come to the point that I really respond when somebody in a crowd calls out "bella". 15 years of taking on a fake persona will do that to you . It bugged the hell out of me in Twilight, though heh.

I still don't know how much I will participate in the twss community. I'm more of a strategy gal myself, but if you are ever interested in LHE, come over to the micros. We have a great community and are very welcoming of any new people posting strat.

Hi Laura, I play rush too under dmoongirl. I've mostly been playing 1/2 and 2/4 but I might move down and play more tables in the future. Welcome

Very long time lurker - I created an account just to respond

Regular cash game LA player, rarely play online other than the Sunday 1/4 mil sometimes. Will also play some tournaments, but 5/10 and 5/5 NL cash are my usual games.

I don't see too many women in the games that I play but would definitely be interested in meeting up with other women cash game players. I have quite a passion for the game and think about strategy all the time. I have also made every mistake in the book along the way and depending on whom you ask I am either the worst donk ever seen, a passive fish or a tough bully, which is just the way I like it.

I've been around quite a while, anyone who has spent any time @ Commerce/Hustler/Bike would likely recognize me on sight.

I curate a collection of architectural and engineering drawings, records, models, etc. I work for a University that has 4 campuses, so it's sort of like archiving a city -
all the building construction, renovation, infrastructure under the ground and above, etc. My records date to about 1890 or so...

@ fossil preparator -- do you have an archaeology background?

Wow, that huge responsibility - like uber librarian - with chemistry thrown in or something. I'd love that.

Sorta/kinda. Fossils are paleontology but my field of study was physical anthropology with a specialty in paleoanthro. I kind of fell into the museum job while doing an independent study there. Loved the work, like the biggest most expensive craft project ever. And lots of camping in deserts with men and liquor...and ... um.. wait...is that TMI?

I'm pretty sure when they want to get Twilight girl's attention they call out "Vapid!"
