New forum FTW?

My name is Nicole, and I've been playing poker (pretty much exclusively NLHE) since 2008, when my b/f suggested a Vegas trip and mentioned he would want to play. I used to play "fake" poker while I was in the service, so I "played" as well, if you can call it that, but I enjoyed myself a lot. From there I picked up a few books, and it was all down hill from there.

I play mostly micro to low stakes SNGs and MTTs with a few middle and high stake shots thrown in.

IRL I'm currently an unemployed dissertation phase Ph.D. student in Counseling.

Hi all,

My name is Shauna and I play poker. I guess I'm the old lady here.

My first experience with live poker was when I lived in Vegas briefly while I was playing a lot of blackjack. The first game I was dealt into was 7 stud at the Silver Slipper on the Strip, across from the Desert Inn. I dabbled on and off for quite a while.

When IRC poker came online late in the last century I started playing a lot on that. Despite being play money it was fairly competitive; you could only reload once a day and there were games where you couldn't play unless you had built your bankroll up to a certain point. Some of the current poker geeks like Chris Ferguson were playing there at that time.

I'm not sure when I started playing online for real money, sometime early in the century. I know that I was playing full time around 2003 after leaving grad school, and grinding pretty hard in 2005 when I did a promo to go to the WSOP. My play since then has been fairly sporadic; got burned out a bit and the games just seem to keep getting harder.

My best game is probably still Stud, although i love NLHE tournaments and seem to do OK in them and SnGs.

Favorite live place to play is the Bike; it's good to be back in LA so I can go over there. In Vegas I tend to go downtown since it reminds me of the old days, still a certain down home feel to it compared to new mega places on the Strip.

Outside of poker, it's been a long strange trip. Grew up near where "Rocky" was filmed in Philadelphia, moved to California for work and decided I love it here. Never really used that MS in Engineering, got married to a lovely woman just before Prop 8 passed, played a lot of pool and was on a BCA national championship team last year.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone better.

Shauna

Thanks. Not really, but I do appreciate a fellow Spock fan. I can't believe anyone watched TOS for Kirk, Spock was far more interesting.

I'm a bit older. For instance, I saw the first episode of Star Trek when it first came on. In fact, I convinced my mom to visit her friend next door the night that it came on, knowing that her bratty kid Bobby would want to see it and would get his way. They had the only color TV set on the block, so I got to see that first episode in color. It was the only one that I didn't have to watch in B&W the first time around.

Yeah, if you were actually around for the first broadcast that would make you significantly older than me.

But I grew up watching TOS and my first ever TV crush was on Spock. I was a strange little girl lol.

Welp, I'm a baby. I'm Beata, 21, and I've met three ladies itt IRL.

After being a little hesitant on the idea of a ladies forum - I wasn't sure what kind of direction this was supposed to go in, I've changed my mind and really think this forum is quite lovely.

I started off as an underaged 19 year old playing 1/2 and 2/5 at Mohegan Sun. I went from a live player to an online player (although I still play live) and I'm happy to say that I've profited online. I love mtt's. I had a little mishap at Foxwoods when I was 20 that prevented me from playing when I officially turned 21 which broke my heart, but I'm happy to say that I'm back playing there. I'm currently trying to finish up my last 2 semesters with a degree in psychology after switching my major three times.

I also miss the women's weekly $55 tournaments on stars.

Ya...I heard that.

Well it's nice to see you around. The nursing thing is going ok. They are computerizing all the charting this spring, so we are taking classes on that system. Other than that, it's a rollercoaster but I still like it.

Hi Everyone:

A possibility for the meet-up would be the day of our yearly Two Plus Two party in Las Vegas. We'll be making an announcement sometime in the near future, but July 7 looks like the day.

Best wishes,
Mason

I went to the 2+2 party at Aria last summer and had a fantastic time. IIRC, I didn't show up to the party until early afternoon. Perhaps we can have a separate TWSS brunch / lunch before joining the rest of the 2+2ers?

Wait, you're not advocating a separate, exclusionary group event, are you?

and while I'm here.... Mom called, she said you're not getting enough sleep, based on your posting times.

Last time I checked, participation in TWSS wasn't exclusionary to anyone (well, except the ones who get the ban axe)

The funny thing is that I get plenty of sleep . . . just at extremely random times.

When I someday play the main event, you can bet your sweet ass I'm going to the 2p2 party first.

I've been to the Aria just to play poker, though. Really like the place.

Hey everyone,

Longtime lurker but was inspired to post after seeing the new forum My name is Amy and I'm 29, have been playing poker online since 2004 but started taking it more seriously over the last few years. Built my initial roll playing MTTs but once I graduated college and got a job it was too hard to grind MTTs and have time for anything else, so now I just play the superturbo STTs ( to katie). Otherwise, I work in finance and play lots of tennis. Hope this forum lives up to its potential!

Okay, my turn to step out of the dark.
i've been hanging around on 2+2 for a while, but never really posted anything. And i think it's a good time to change that now.

My name is Britt and i'm 26. i've been playing the lowest of the lowest stakes online, hoping that one day, i'll learn to play the game enough, to step up a little.

Also, i never had horses, nor did i want to be a vet...

i hope this forum stays around for a long time, liking it a lot so far.

thatpokergirl here.

I just graduated from fashion school and I have nothing to do after job hunting about two hours a day. So I play poker. Mostly just play money Rush (hehehe) and live low-stakes cash games at the local spots.

Hello all!
A little history - I played poker for fun w/friends when I was younger, but learned NLHE in '08. Started playing online w/play money, began studying poker (a lot!), and have been playing micros now for about a year. Getting a little better each year. I play on Stars and like NLHE trnys and SNGs. Looking to make transition to cash games fairly soon, but need to get a HUD.

After I got a little better, I started playing live limit cash games and small trnys at my local casino and not doing too bad. I would have never had the nerve go into a card room w/o learning how to play, so I'm glad we have online to learn. Feel pretty comfortable there now. Been lurking at 2+2 for about 6 months and signed up last month. Great info. here! Wasn't sure how many other ladies were on this site, so good to meet you!
