Hi everyone! I just joined the forum today I'm very new to poker... been playing online for a few months and getting ready to try out some live 1/2 NLHE games. I'm a former art teacher who got tired of living off a teacher's salary (despite having two Master's degrees), and I'm now a professional photographer and oil painter. I became interested in poker and want to learn as much as I can in order to be a skilled and winning player... and hopefully make some money too

Welcome, Lisa! What a cool background you have-- I like painting too, though I'm only a novice. Thanks for starting the great thread about your first time playing live, and please let us know how much fun you have!

Hi everybody! Love this forum. I started playing in 2004. I cashed in a lot of 10 max SNGs , a few of those monster MTTs and a live one table tourney at CalNeva , final table of 30 entrants at MGM? both places I was scared s-less. Probably only got to money because whoever I was up against was even worse than me. : ) I suck hard at cash games. Didn't lose a much money(super micro limits) but lost my job so had to just do the freerolls after that.

I was playing every chance I could get, reading everything I could get my hands on, lurked here and at The Poker Forum just trying to learn and get better. I never said I was good at it-just have a sick obsession and love for the games and love to play just about all of them except Pass the Trash and Dr. Pepper. I always felt like it was a good idea to learn all of the games and be kind of well rounded. I feel like HORSE allows for this and makes you have to adapt to constant change even more which is a good thing.

Even if I didn't win I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Then came Black Friday. I quit playing for several years after that and rarely played the few years leading up to BF. Black Friday disgusted me so much I **** canned everything poker related that I had except for Super System .

A recent trip to Reno reignited my passion for poker. I am obsessed again and wish I hadn't tossed those books I had by Sklansky. The only way I can play here is live, and need much practice and education before I try live games. I'm practicing at the play money tables on Stars(yeah, I know, but where else can a poor American who is semi agoraphobic get some major practice in nowadays for little to no risk?) just to get a feel for it again and stay on top of it in case I get brave enough to go to the cardroom again.

Maybe when hell freezes over, us US players will be able to play online again. Either way, if I keep practicing, maybe I'll be ready.

Good luck all and keep dragging in those pots!

(sitting in seat zero watching the board pair)

I started playing poker about a year before Black Friday, but didn't start pursuing it more until I moved to Germany later in 2011 (not as a poker exile, for mah day jorb as a Kindergarten teacher at an international school).

That last sentence should clue a few people in about who I am lol.

I went to college with The Groupie and reconnected with her after I was told by a mutual friend that she'd been playing poker successfully. As I often tell people, she was immediately generous with advice and support and was a big part of helping me start to grasp the basics and improve my game.

I live in Bavaria, and mostly play on Stars. Not much live action around here, except for the occasional trip over the border to Austria for a weekend. Primarily low and micro MTT's, usually Turbos because it's what I can fit in a few evenings a week with my work schedule.

I don't have a lot of live experience, mostly a handful of times playing cash in AC, PA, Vegas. Live tourney entries so far have all been Women's Event's (PCA, EPT Vienna and WSOP one of each). I'm sorta one of those occasional tourists that likes to play live sometimes and spews beyond their roll a little for a fun trip once in a while.

I've met some pretty incredible people thanks to poker, especially the women. Overall some of the coolest, smartest and most interesting people I've had the opportunity to meet.

So anyway...hi!

Hey Ladies,

my name is Sin and I'm 21. I'm really happy that I found this forum, it sounds pretty cool that there are more girls out there who are interested in poker!
I started playing poker two years ago, at that time more or less seriously. After trying the different kinds of poker I decided to play mainly nl husngs, currently the 15$ turbos and I love it!
Because I was travelling through Australia the last one year I had trouble to play enough, so now is the time to play more and hopefully get better!

I'm really looking for someone who's interested in talking about strategy or anything about poker (another husng player would be amazing, of course!), so if there is someone just add me in skype: sinnnni

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I am new here and thought this might be a good place to introduce myself. My name is Keri, a 29 year old female poker player from Eastbourne, Southern England.

I've been playing poker since about the age of 21. I used to play MTT's and SitnGos, having only a few decent big wins at the micros and overall a small profit. Since the day I started I have had a ridiculously huge passion for the game and no matter what goes on in my life, poker always seems to be a big part of it, I rarely have a day where I don't play poker. I just love the game through and through and I don't ever see that changing.

Last year I decided to try my hand at cash and played as a staked player for PokerVIP for a while. It was a HUGE learning curve for me and I grew to love cash very quickly. I learnt more in a year being a staked player then I did in the 7 years previous and I now have more determination to succeed than ever.

I am hoping this will be a place where I can learn and share my journey through poker and maybe make some friends along the way

This forum looks great btw. And I love that there is a women's section!
