Re: The Lady Across the Table-Introduction Thread
Hi, I'm Jenny/Jennifer/Jen. I'll answer to all of them. I just moved to Vegas last year. Been playing poker all my life, my dad taught me when I was a girl. If I had a day off from school, he'd take me to watch and sometimes play with his poker buddies...my mom didn't much care for that lol.
I was a poker dealer back home (in WI) for a few different outfits, mostly bar tournaments and some after-hours business events. After moving here, I got hired right away (Whew!) as a poker dealer in one of the off-Strip casinos.
I love playing, love dealing, and just pretty much am consumed by the game. I primarily (ok, always) play 1/2 NL. I'm open to learning some other games, but I doubt very much you'll ever see me sit down at a limit game. PLO, maybe. I like to play the occasional tournament, but not a big fan of tourneys that last 9+ hours or more.
I'd love to talk with the local ladies, pick their brains a bit on where to find the best games, what their favorite casinos are, who offers the best comps, etc. As I have time I plan to read these forums a lot more and hopefully pick up some good info/tips.

Re: The Lady Across the Table-Introduction Thread
Hi all, am Elena, I usually read the two plus two Foxwoods thread, but just found out about this awesome thread for ladies.
About me: I started playing recreational poker in 2009 (online), after moving to New England from NY and getting a seasonal job at the cage in Foxwoods. I only play MTT's, and I recently made it to my first live final table ... Am working on improving my poker skills and I have played 6 live MTT's at Foxwoods so far..

[QUOTE=hotjenny314;26738342]Yes! What days/where do you usually play?
My play days/nights vary, according to my work schedule, family schedule, and if I'm feeling like playing. Sometimes I just want to veg out and do other stuff.
I've mostly been playing at Bally's and Gold Nugget. I prefer Bally's, they have high hand payouts, I like the dealers, I like how the room is situated right by the pit tables (a lot of tourists and newbies that are just walking by decide to sit down to play poker). I've heard many good things about a number of poker rooms out here, but haven't checked too many of them out. I've found (for me, anyway) that Friday/Saturday nights are best for action, people who don't know what they're doing, and loose money.

You might want to try connecting with the local WPDG (Wednesday Poker Discussion Group). They meet every Wednesday starting at 2:00 - 2:30pm at a restaurant called Ricardo's in Las Vegas. Just up the road a bit from the Rio.
Very friendly discussion group. Lots of ladies (including some of the best in poker) attend this.
There is also a no-limit specific discussion group that meets Monday nights, but I've never been to one of their meetings.

Re: The Lady Across the Table-Introduction Thread
Hello Ladies,
My name is Maria and I've lived in Vegas for the past 5 years. I moved here from California to be a pro-poker player and after 3 months of grinding it out, I decided the pro-poker thing wasn't for me. I went back to engineering and now I'm a test engineer for one of the gaming OEMs here in town. I play at MGM and Aria for my "fun money".
I'd love to meet some of you sometime. Please let me know about any get-togethers during the WSOP.

Hi Maria,
Hope that you are enjoying Vegas. I lived there briefly during my Blackjack days, but it was a far different town then. Now it seems more user friendly, but more greedy toward tourists.
Can you amplify on the teat engineering gig? I have an MS in Engr but have had some difficulty finding work; which is why I was playing so much online until Black Friday.

Thanks Lee! I'm going to check into this next week if my afternoon is open. Is anyone (female) welcome? Can I just walk in?

Re: The Lady Across the Table-Introduction Thread
What was funny to me was that I played at Bally's last night, and there was a woman at my table. She was pretty good, a straightforward player, tight-aggressive. She even stacked me at one point when my KK ran into her AA.
Anyway, she was a pretty good player, so I got to thinking "Maybe she's one of the ladies here on the forums!" So I asked her if she was local.
Nope, she was a tourist, and leaving this morning. And taking my chips with her. Boo.
