So looks like I will be getting to Vegas mid-January.
And for a variety reasons, we have decided to rent for 6-12 months instead of buying right now.
So if anyone knows of anyone who has a place they want to lease, or a sublease situation, please pass it along. Looking for a house/condo/apt in a safe area not crazy far from the Strip.
I have a friend with a condo near South Point, but not sure if he sold it and am waiting to hear back.
This is for 2 people and a small dog. All three of us are well-behaved individuals

We live in condos very near South Point, and got to know a couple of our neighbors. One of them, Troy, just recently sold his condo and moved in with his girlfriend.

By the way, we love living here. It's close to the Strip and everything, but kinda secluded too. Nice area. Also renting until we decide if we want to buy or not.

The Meridian is a gated complex that is very close to the Strip. That would be my recommendation.

Found the perfect house in Vegas that was checked out and visited by CKBWoP, hotjenny314 and Mr. hotjenny! So tyty to you 3 for helping me out and making sure I was moving into a nice, safe area and house!! I really felt like this place was 'the one' and needed to jump on it before someone else did.

I'm definitely nervous about the move and a little sad, as I have spent almost half my life in this house. It's the biggest move I have ever made. I'm also a little sad because my mom is really sad because for the first time in my life I will no longer have a residence within a few hours of her.
But, I am also excited because I am moving to a place conducive to my profession as well as being near so many of my friends.

So apparently I can just take my DirectTV receiver with me, and then they will come and install a new dish on my new house at no charge.
Does anyone else have DirecTV in Vegas? Does it work ok there? I have known people in the past in other parts of the country where they've had trouble with it. It has worked great for me in Dallas...

Also, what is everyone's thoughts on best internet provider?
I was trying to see if I could just bundle my cell phone with AT&T's internet/TV service, but it does not look like they service Las Vegas?

Lots of my friends have directv. It seems to work fine. I have Cox upgraded internet for like $120 a month it has the fastest download speeds I've ever seen. I think it peaks at like 60mbps which is over 20x faster than I had at home.

+1 on Cox. We have a ton of stuff that needs the internet connection in our home, and there are generally no issues save for the random power outages that aren't Cox's fault.

Have both of these and they work well; however if I wasn't in contract, I think I wouldn't continue with direct tv (though they've been totally fine to deal with). I just think Roku/Amazon Prime/Netflix watch instant would work as well and be cheaper for us fwiw. Cox's highest speed has been the most reliable internet I've ever had...
