I feel your pain. My home team is the lowly Detroit Lions. We're on the upswing though!

I've played probably 5 or 6 years now and have won twice, should probably quit while I'm ahead Thank god there was no lockout, we already lost FT and PS this year so I don't know what I'd have done! I'm a Chicago Bears fan, family is originally from the Chicago area.

Have only played fantasy football once, though. I think it's more fun with a big group of friends and sadly, I don't have a big enough group of friends who love football to pull this off. The one time I did play was in the military, and was a blast (I won the regular season). It was the year Manning broke the single season TD record (he didn't hold it for long) and I had both him and one of his receivers. I rode Manning to victory!
I'm a hugeeeee fan of NFL!!! Really appreciate how quickly they handled the lockout- I thought for sure half the season was going to be gone when they still hadn't come to an agreement by late July...

I've been a NY Giants fan ever since I was little... but I've been living in Cleveland for the past 5 years (went to college and now I work here/grad school) so I definitely see the pain of the Cleveland Browns every year all around me, especially when the other half of my college was Steelers fans... :P

I've always been meaning to play fantasy football, but a. I've always wanted to play with friends, but don't have enough that are interested, and b. don't really follow college football enough to keep up with draft picks.

Heyyyy if there's enough interested though, did we want to start a TWSS league?

I mean, if someone organized it, I'd be in, but I've got too much on my plate right now to be an organizer.

I've got too much on my plate to be as involved as I am with keeping up with the Girah scandal, but apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.

(lol no personal offense meant, but I'm from North Jersey so I am very anti-Philly and pro-NY, and I live in Cleveland where the Cavs used to be the only thing CLE had to root for, so I'm anti-Heat by default :P).

For sure I liked them when I was a kid, but I stopped watching them pretty early from what I remember. I was into sports and chess a lot growing up and didn't have much time for TV actually.

LOL, thanks.

And please don't drop the banhammer, but yeah, Philly....BOOOOOO!!!

My b/f is a Redskins fan. Don't hate me.

I will say this - Bruins fans took over as the worst fans in sport, period, when they booed a player during the Stanley Cup Finals this year WHO HAD FRACTURED HIS BACK ON THE PLAY!

So yeah, you're forgiven for throwing snowballs at Santa.

But then you have to understand that standard NSAID treatment has failed, and I'm already on a synthetic opiate daily for pain control (a new development that is working very well right now, thank God). The next step for me is, like, daily Vicodin. Or heroin. :P

Unmedicated, my pain levels never drop below a 5 on the 1-10 scale, and earlier this year I ended up in the ER when one of the muscles in my lower back spasmed so badly (from the ever challenging act of standing up) that Percoset didn't even provide relief and I was in tears every time I moved.

For that I got Valium, which is a muscle relaxer, which I did not know. Nice stuff, Valium. I can see why they give it to help people relax. After they combined Valium with two Percoset, I was in much less pain, and did not care about the remaining pain I was in. It was alllll goooooood.
Valium or Diazepam is not a muscle relaxer, its a benzodiazepine used for the treatment of anxiety. Muscle relaxers are things like Flexeril or Cyclobenzaprine which is a tricyclic antidepressant. Also mixing a benzodiazepine and an opiate based pain killer is a bad mix, think Heath Ledger before you mix the two.

I mean, like, no offense, but the ER doctor prescribed both in what one would assume were safe doses. Doubt I was on excessively high doses, and no drinking, so other than being extremely mellow for three days, I'd say I was in minimal danger.

And Valium does indeed have muscle relaxing properties - plenty of medications have dual purposes (for example, I take a medication normally prescribed for high blood pressure to help prevent cluster headaches). Just because it's a benzo doesn't mean it can't help with severe muscle spasms.

And I already take Flexaril on a daily basis, twice a day.

Sorry to hear that you're in so much pain. Are you getting regular massages/other natural methods of trying to improve things? Be careful of the fallacy that just because a DR prescribes it means it is safe. I'll be hoping that things improve for you.

I'm well aware of the fact the many medications have dual purposes however in all my years in healthcare I have NEVER and i mean NEVER seen someone use Valium as a muscle relaxer, that is possibly because there are many more highly effective muscle relaxers out there as you know.

Please trust me when I tell you that just because a Dr. prescribes it doesn't mean it is the best thing in the world for you. I have seen more than my fair share of Docs give meds that do no mix well together esp. mixing benzos with narcotic pain killers. It just seems odd that a Dr. would even prescribe them in that situation, not saying that I dont believe you or anything just that I find it odd and think your Dr. is crazy for even giving you Valium as a muscle relaxer when your on narcotic pain killers when there are other better options (see the statement above)

If your already on cyclobenzaprine twice a day you should just get on the ER 30mg ones, little more spendy but oh so worth it.

Sorry to derail your girly thread, I have actually found it kind interesting

PS congrats on the mod stuff.

I get a massage once a month and do regular stretching exercises. It's actually much better now with the synthetic opiate. But nothing will relax permanently so there isn't much they can do. 8 years so far and they tell me it will be life long.

Hmmmm. I googled it later and it said Valium could be used that way so I didn't think anything of it. Maybe they weren't too worried because they only gave me 10? IDK, I do know it helped.

Spendy isn't a problem, I get my pills from the VA. The Army screwed up my back, so all back related treatment/meds are free until they fix it or I die. So I do have that going for me.

But now this is a derail and I'm really pretty normal for being in pain every minute of the day. Now that it's controlled I'm fairly active.

And thanks for the thanks.

Well, since I brought it up, I'll be happy to commish if we can get 10-12 ladies who want to play We'll also need someone to escrow - I wouldn't mind but I'm not too well known around here so that's probably best left up to someone who's been around a while.

I'd be more than happy to escrow if everyone finds me suitable, although I'm not playing poker online right now so we'd have to use something else like Amazon Marketplace in order to do money transfers.

I have a couple of transactions in the marketplace, purchasing of shares for various tournaments, and used to be staked by someone on 2p2, all above board.

I think Paypal is standard nowadays as well since site transfers aren't really a good option anymore.
