Re: Female here wondering if any other females are leaving the US to Play Online Poker?

I have been thinking about moving for awhile but have been holding out for legalization. I don't know how much longer I can hold out I can't move full time (family obligations) but have been thinking about making the commute to Puerto Panasco (Rocky Point), Mexico. It is safe, inexpensive, and on the US border. Would love to split a place with 1 or 2 other women.

I was back on Stars yesterday when I woke up! It is an awesome feeling to play online poker and not feel like a criminal in your own country for doing what you love!

Interesting, I am assuming you live in Arizona, how far of a drive is it from where you live? Do they have reliable internet service down there? Do you speak Spanish?

It is 3 hours from Tucson and non-poker players have told me the net is reliable but that isn't the same as poker playing reliability. I used to speak spanish enough to get by but its been awhile. I think it would come back.

My main issue is that I wouldn't be able to go full time and I made most of my money on tilt. I worry that with the switch to Poker Stars and the cost of commuting/apartment and the part time... It might not be worth it.

If I knew it would be three years till legalization I would give Mexico a go. But I hate to make the investment and then have them legalize next month.

I know, right?

Congrats on your move. Wish I had money for your BAP! If I do at all well this weekend and you still have shares, count me in.

Thanks girlfriend, just saw this, it is kind of weird but since I have been in Mexico I am not getting notifications to my email.

Anyways, we are loving Mexico, we have been meeting a lot of nice people from the 2+2 community, plus the locals are very friendly and helpful people.

Re: Female here wondering if any other females are leaving the US to Play Online Poker?

I just shipped my first tournament since moving to Mexico last Sunday! I Shipped the Bigger $27 on Stars for $5400!

I am loving Mexico, I feel very safe here, there is a huge community of poker players, and I have met one lady from the poker community, she doesn't play poker, but is a girlfriend to one of the guys down here, I am suppose to meet another lady tonight ( a wife of a poker player lol).

I have also met some female American friends here, most are my neighbors who live in my complex.

The poker community down here is a very close nit group, we have a dedicated Skype group for everyone who lives down here, which makes it nice for dinner meet ups, swaps, etc..

Little late to the game but I've been taking extended trips to Canada and it's been great. Playing live and online (who knew the cash games were so good here). There's a legit way around bank accounts (prepaid Visa) that works quite well.
Would love to have a summertime grinder pal to split a place. (post series of course.) pm me

Re: Female here wondering if any other females are leaving the US to Play Online Poker?

I left the US in June 2011 for Germany. Poker was not the deciding factor, but it sure was nice to be still able to play on Pokerstars. Unfortunately, setting up bank account and everything took too long for me to be able to get my money off FTP, but we'll see.
