wow, sounds like a party.

I have so many questions, visas, forms, costs, neighborhoods and so forth. Any links to good info you found or any words of wisdom for someone considering come down there?

congrats all,

Shauna

You really only need a passport down here, and that is just to get back into the states, Rosarito is considered a border town, so they don't bother you for paperwork.

Here is a link to some rentals out here, a friend of mine works for this company, she lives in our complex actually, it should give you an idea of what is out here.

Thanks for the info. Been meaning to work the passport issue, good reason to make another effort on that.

Kinda miss the old days where you could just go across into Canada or Mexico with you driving license or other ID.

Rosarito sounds like a workable option, good luck to those there and hope to at least visit soon to check it out.

thanks,

Shauna

Is there a reason everyone is choosing Mexico / Costa Rica over Canada?

I can drive to Mexico is less than a day, and the cost of living is cheaper.

Of course this also lets you coordinate trips to Disneyland on the way to and from Mexico.

Cost of living is less then both the alternatives mentioned, also it is much easier to get in, they don't bother you for paperwork, Rosarito's proximity to the states is also a plus.

I think it is faster if you get a passport card, but if you plan on doing a lot of traveling, you might as well get a regular passport

Made it to Rosarito last night...the road from the border to the Calafia towers was a little scary, and also being that this place doesn't really have an address made it difficult to put in my gps. My friends simply told me the exit name and I just drove from there! Good news is I did make it though and am sending my paperwork to Stars this morning! It's so pretty here...I posted a bunch of pics on fb.

My new grind station...

So, is there going to be a catchy name now for the female Rosarito ex-pats?

Hoping to come down soon,

Shauna

It is safe, inexpensive, and on the US border. Would love to split a place with 1 or 2 other women.
Took me long enough but I have finally got a place in Rocky Point. For those who have made the move to Mexico a few logistical questions: When I open a bank account at a Mexican Bank do I only need a USD account or should I be getting a peso account as well? It seems like it will be fairly easy to get back on Poker Stars (show a bank account and lease). But any advise on the best way to receive funds would be appreciated or anything else I am not thinking of. Thanks in advance

I had both, but never needed either. Stars accepted my lease and passport and that was all that was needed. This was also mid 2012, so things may have changed.

Thanks for the advise. Got a bit of a hold up with the closing of the condo. I will let you know when I am back up and running.
