It's been a while since I've graced TWSS with my presence, (spending too much time over in NVG commenting on cheating scandals), so it's time to post something really outrageous here. (Ha! Ha!)
I was thinking earlier today about outlandish WSOP prop bets. Here's a really wild one. Remember just a few years ago when Erica Mouthino (sp?) and [future husband] David "Doc" Sands came close to making the final table on the Main Event? Wouldn't it be incredible if a married couple (as in a husband and wife or a legally married same-sex couple) made it to the final table of the ME and wound up battling it out (heads up) for the championship? Would the Vegas sports books offer a line on such a bet? (I might risk a Franklin on a bet like that - if the payoff odds were at least 3,000-to-1.)
There are several married couples we know of (including one couple named Katie and Collin ...) who are in a position to make us prop bettors rich! There are other married couples who are [probably] also playing in the ME - like Jennifer Harman and Marco Traniello, Karina and Chip Jett, and maybe six or seven other married folks I'm not thinking of; so it's not a million-to-one long shot that a married couple could wind up battling it out for all the marbles.
ESPN and Caesar's want big TV ratings. Just imagine what happens when Collin and Katie (or Erica and David) wind up heads up for all the money? How about some (faked) "trash talk" kind of like this ...
Katie: "Hubby, I hate to tell you this, but I asked Wilbur which one of us would win - you or me? Wilbur barked and wagged his tail when I said 'Me,' so get ready to have your ego crushed!"
Collin: "Wilbur is a dog, not a poker player! Plus, I've written a book on heads up no limit hold 'em, so you're toast!" (Norman Chad and Lon McEachern go bananas hyping up this "trash talk".)
It would be too syrupy for husband and wife to be all kissy-kissy and "Oh, I love you, darling" heads up, (well, maybe not ...) but it would certainly be entertaining. Plus, if it comes down to husband versus wife for the championship, Katie and Collin (or Jennifer and Marco) will probably wind up on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Talk about poker getting a big shot in the arm ...
Anyway, I'm curious if any of the bookies are offering a line on this kind of bet - and if so, what the line is? (Old Alan just being a little crazy ...)
