re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Hi I may be interested in coaching on hyper turbo husngs. I already play some on a UK website but player traffic is low during the day when I am most focused and alert. Having looked at Stars, it seems as though they have loads of traffic for morning play.

Can I please have a pm with the cost of training and what exactly is offered.

FYI i am based in London, England.

You don't have enough posts for the PM function to work yet. If you give me your email address I'll mail you the details, or you can add me on skype/aim (cogdissonance1) or email me: cogdissonance1@gmail.com

When I where in Bali I hocked up with cog. I dint have any expectations, or to be honest I had. I thought it would be a waste of money. Thought that I was pretty good, but were just running bad and that coaching would just be burning money. Thought I might even be able to teach cog something. Many thoughts, and a big ego

His coaching is divided into 4 parts ::
How to play the TP
How to play the LP
How to play the TAG/LAG
HH review.

The problem was that I knew how to play all of them, I thought!
Then cog opened his mouth and I was totally lost. The problem was that I never had a strategy to categorize them and played more on feeling.

The next big thing was that he added another dimension of playing against all of them.
I never limped before, thought it was for **** and bad players. Amazing tool to have in my arsenal!
And I played them more on feeling, for the most that feeling was tilt.

I was always pushing around 10-25BB because I didnt know what else to do with the hands.
When I looked in HEM I was loosing bigtime from 40BB down, because I thought that they would play midgame and lategame the same way they play in early game. So many leaks that I was ashamed.

And then I found the fold button aswell. They arent bluffing as much as I would like to think they do.
Many things can be said. But im so happy that I took the course. I made the money back in one week.Cog is a really good teacher, maybe because he was a school teacher before? He was really patient and explained things very clear. Besides that he was a great guy to hand around with and spend my time with in Bali.

Thanks Cog
And good luck to you all thats gonna take his course!
Wow man those are some crazy good results. NICE!

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Really interested in coaching, what stakes would you say are minimum to get the most out of this? I only play the 3.50 turbos at the moment but would be willing to drop a bit more into my bankroll if needed.

Also as a player just starting out in HUSNG would you recommend the turbos or the supers?

I can't get PM's as I just signed up but feel free to send me an email nospamthx@gmail.com

Thanks!

Paul, do you offer hourly rates for HU Hypers? After 25k+ 9-max games I want to switch to these games, but I feel like I need initial push into right direction.
P.S. watched all of your HUSNG videos

I have the hu hyper course which would help you switch. I also have hourly sessions, but I'd recommend the course.
Add me on Skype if you want to discuss it further (cogdissonance1).
Cheers

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Just wanted to post a quick message about Cog Dis and his coaching services. I contacted Cog about a month ago to get some coaching on hyper turbo heads up games. I hadn't had much HU experience and needed a coach to help fix some leaks in my game. His hyper turbo course was well worth the money. He provided an entire course pack on how to beat the games, including charts and notes based on player tendencies. He also provides 4 one hour skype sessions which include analyzing how to play vs certain opponents, and furthermore goes through detailed hand history reviews of your play. His coaching is more than worth the price and I would recommend him to anyone trying to improve their game.

Considering, though do you still have the same course you did in 2009 for $400 on turbos or have you changed it?? Also you said you've played poker for 3 years full time and your graph only shows 6k games?

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Does the Course al apply to Heads UP Cash Games??

I have never been coached before and I do not play sit'go's on a regular basis, however, I have heard that once you're good at heads up you can expand that to 6-max. I'm assuming it would help for all sorts of POker as well?

Haven't updated the graphs but obv have played and made more, otherwise I'd have a real job by now.

Course is the same as in 2009 pretty much. I've been mixing in some turbos lately with the $100 hypers and doing fine using the same methods.

Cog Dis 991 $8.77 $66 10% $8,692 PokerStars Spd=T

Obv 1k games is a small sample, but I'll update it at 3k and I'm sure it will be a similar roi.

An important thing is not to rely on him, thinking that you will become a winner right away. That's one thing I did wrong. I thought I'd be a winner, and auto-piloted. After what I thought was a "run-bad", I looked over things and realized I wasn't doing what he taught me at all.

So since then, here's my graph (10s and 20s on Stars):

Thanks again Paul for the great AFFORDABLE coaching lessons. Oh and he is a hilarious guy who will make you feel comfortable.
^ me 2 years ago

unfortunately, no huge success story here. quit for the past year, came back and got coaching for super turbo HU, since i was unfamiliar w/ the game/scene now. he got me started well, and now ~1.5 months in ive moved from 7s->60s

he gives you a v solid base to work off of. everything you need to know to imo beat 15s/30s ezly after the 4 sessions.

results so far (like 20 bi above ev tho ):

cogs a good coach. dont hesitate

To be honest I contacted Paul because I thought I didn't need that much help and just wanted to get more confident about my game. I was already a winning player at 15's, played a few 30's and didnt run very well. Since I started my sessions (around 5~6 weeks ago) I've moved up to the 60's and made 3 times more money than I had done before. I'm very happy to have contacted him. I learned a lot and his coaching was much better than I expected.

Initially I thought $400 for the course was a lot of money but I really think its veeery worth it (now i think its actually cheap for the quality of his coaching) even for lower stakes players if you really want to make money playing poker

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Hey am I only one without good results after Pauls coaching?I had just 3 hours so I will have one more session with him but I dont believe things will change after one more session.I feel like I burned 400 bucks.Paul is nice person and he is willing to allways answer the questions and is trying to help. But I would rather results.Unfortunatelly there wasnt something which would be improve my results
So my point is that if you are stupid fish at micros like me then Pauls coaching "probably" will not work for you...

^ maybe give it some time? there's always variance, esp in hypers. results should come if you have paid attention to his course and applied it. he can def give you a very solid base to beat up to the 15s/30s imo

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Do you feel you have learned something from him? What do you think he could have done better to help you?

It's always nice when we get immediate results but that doesn't always happen. Because this game involves so much variance it's actually possible that you lose more than before after getting coached by anyone. That's why it is important that you are able to identify what you have learned instead of just hoping hearing someone's voice will make your game better. I myself just had a somewhat long (3 weeks) breakeven stretch recently but I know that has nothing to do with Cog's coaching and I never expected to eliminate downswings from my game by getting coached.

If you feel you didn't learn anything then I'm sorry, but think about what you can do about it. Maybe you could rewatch your sessions if you have them recorded and review your recent games in order to check whether you're doing what you were advised to.

Once you've done that if you still think you learned nothing then probably you did waste 400 bucks.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Its hard to tell what he or me could do better.I am a fish so I dont know what should I learn or study for beating micro hyper husng. If I would know what to study or what is important then I can google it or think about it in my own and I dont need a coach. Also I expect that I will feel more confident about my game after coaching this means I understand what am I doing and why and I know whether I am right.Honestly I dont feel like that and one of the reason of this is and allways be a results .I am maybe a results oriented but is stupid if someone with a roi -5% is confident about his game. For me personally confidence is important for not tilting.
I dont understand a whole concept and give you an example what I mean. For example at NL5 9max I will bet with a good hands and fold bad hands...I will confidente about this because I know this works and also I know people at this game are missing value by slowplaying good hands and throwing money away by playing big pots with a mediocre hands.
At hypers I have problem to even recognize how it looks like beeing spewy and how playing right.Whether bet for value or check for value...
