re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I also took Paul's Fundamentals course & it is awesome! At the time was new to HUSNGs and was a prolific loser at any stakes. Cog gave me a great foundation & thought process & I've had +ROI since

I've also signed up to HUSNG & checked out his videos which are great too.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I first got into contact with Paul about a month ago. At the time, I was grinding low stakes 9 man non-turbos with some mild success. However, the whole push/fold characteristic of them started to get boring to me so I looked for something else. After realizing the profit potential of HU SNGs, I immediately got into contact with Paul.

If you didn't already know, Paul used to be an IB teacher. Having gone through the IB program myself in high school, I can attest to the great teaching/communication skills required to be an IB teacher. These skills combined with Paul's amazing poker mind makes for an AWESOME coach.

In addition to his superb coaching skills, Paul is a really funny guy. He breaks the whole "teacher/student" boundary and puts things on a personal level. I'm still young, 19, and the age difference usually makes it difficult for older people to be funny, but Paul had no problem getting a laugh out of me.

My Results After One Month

With classes starting and whatnot, I really haven't had that much time to put in a lot of volume, but after only 143 games, Paul's coaching has paid for itself.

Results for $5.25 non-turbos

Games Played- 62
Avg. Profit- $1.20
Avg. Stake- $5
ROI- 23%
Total Profit- $75

Results for $10.50 non-turbos

Games Played- 81
Avg. Profit- $2.83
Avg. Stake- $10
ROI- 27%
Total Profit- $230

Overall Results

Games Played- 143
Avg. Profit- $2.13
Avg. Stake- $8
ROI- 25%
Total Profit- $304

As you can see, Paul's coaching speaks for itself. Because of his course, I hope to be at the $20s by the end of this month and hopefully the $50s by summer so I can put in some real volume and make some big $$$. In all, Paul's coaching is by far the best poker investment I will ever make.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I'll give my 2 cents about Paul coaching too.

First of all it did great things for my game. I became good at playing HU SnG and I gained an enormous amount of confidence. My results have not been as good money-wise as some of the above posters, but that's because I suck at taking shots at higher limits - which obv isn't Paul's fault

But on the other hand my BI graph looks pretty. And I can say that thanks to Paul's coaching.

If anyone is thinking about getting HU SnG coaching I'd recommend Paul any time. He is great at explaining, he takes time and all around he's a nice guy. Most importantly of course he knows his stuff and how to apply it. Paul can make you a winner!

The straight down thingy is a night of tilting at super turbos

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I made $860 after a few weeks of coaching with Paul. I've been jumping around stakes...somewhat using the double or nothing retarded buyin strategy that will probably make me go broke. Anyway, I've been trying to bumhunt fish from the $10-$100 stakes. I went from a 1-3% ROI (playing aggressive on the button) to a significantly higher ROI, by adjusting to my opponents the specific ways he teaches. It's still going to be very hard for me to make a living playing HUSNGs, but I'm off to a good start thanks to Paul. I might get a Sharkscope and HUSNG.com subscription in the future.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I can't say enough good things about the course. Regardless of your "style," the course is great. At the very least, you will use tons of the information to adapt your own style. I consider myself a pretty experienced player, but I was having trouble beating the $33s. After 3 lessons, I have been two-tabling the $57s pretty successfully for over 600 games. I'm pretty confident that everyone from STT players to MTT players can get something out of the course. And, naturally, any HU player (including higher stakes players who might want a different perspective).

As a person, Paul was nice, friendly, flexible, and patient with my many questions. He really does seem invested in his students. As a teacher myself, feeling invested in a students success is half the battle.

Cliff Notes: I was a good player that wanted to switch to HU Sngs. I sucked, met Paul, happiness.

I started with Paul around game 600

My ROI has been close to 5%, two-tabling $57 turbos over the last 600 games. While not an insanely large sample size, it's decent enough to show that things are going in the right direction. And, as you can see, before Paul, they weren't. Also, as a side note, the FPPs you can rack up in HU sngs are pretty significant. You can add nice bit to any results you see here.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Paul has been an amazing coach to me in the past and Im sure will be in the future too. I started out as a loosing playing and have come a long way with the help and knowledge Paul has offered during lessons.
Paul is always willing to help me out when trouble finds me on the poker table. His efforts are remarkable. I have tried to move into higher stakes and when I needed a coach the most he was always there!!! I would recommend Paul as a coach above anyone else for all these reasons, Need I say anymore about this man as a coach and player other than ASTONISHING!!!

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

hey cog what about the hu sng above the 100 $ buy in?

I would like to start making shots at the 200-500er HU sng and are looking for a coach who is beating them with stamina because the game feels way harder starting with the 200$ buy in.

Do you know anyone or are you gonna start playing this stakes on your own soon?

I was a breakeven full ring player at start, and wanted transition directly to husngs and invested 75 pct. of my bankroll into course, which left me to play husngs at 5usd level. At first of "got coached" timeframe, i had a nice swing up, was easily beating everyone. And after our last session, without reinforcing information from lessons by playing, i traveled for a few days. Needless to say, when i came back i almost regressed back to my starting game plus i had sick downsing. So Paul offered me another lesson for free to plug my leaks, for which im really grateful. after that i started to move up again slowly. Then took a shot at $10's, it worked good and then started playing 4man winner take all tourneys with good success. Oh and that sick swing was caused by a shot at $20's and watching croixdawg 5 tabling high stakes video, with his very agressive style, so i implemented some concepts at micros . Well, im back at playing good and worked back my money spent on coaching with much more knowledge, which is invaluable of course. Take the coaching course fast, its dirt cheap and super helpful.
updated :

played $10's $20's 4mans at 650-780. wanted to move up, but still felt not ready, so we made deal with cog, we split winnings and he teaches me for free, did this for 3 weeks and now im at $30-$50 zone. now it kind of fells this deal was not necessary (as i expected way more harder games), but it still helped to make my game much better and i moved up very comfortably.

Highly recommended coach!

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

I wanna thank Cog Dissonance for really helping me building a solid foundation for my game. The delayed 4th hour (some personal issues had me to postpone it for a few months) of the coaching really showed me some things I needed to work on.

I struggled a bit for a while after the initial huge success I got after the first 3 hours of the course because I needed to find MY game. I am a bit more aggressive than what Cog Dis teaches so it needed time to merge these styles but I am really happy now. Paul even offered me a free hour if my struggle continues but I am glad I can decline that offer.

I even finally managed to get a Star on Sharkscope.

I really can recommend Pauls course. It builds a solid foundation of what you need to know to beat HUSNGs and from where you can develop your own game.

(by style or game I mean how you approach the game, the main focus and what really drives the game should of course always be how to exploit the opponent the best possible way and that is what Paul teaches so well)

I would like to look into hiring you. is it possible to teach single table SNG to someone treading water and breaking even at 6.00 SNG turbo tables? I have a huge problem with math past hand odds and pot odds...even caluclating bad outs for me is tricky..I think Im too agressive and dont know how to handle high pressure bett8ing situations as I never want to seem to fold LOL..please hit me back. id lie to set up something soon

Cog teaches HU sng strategy and not single table sngs.

Even with that if you decide to play other games afterward some of the concepts he discusses will help give you a better outlook on poker if you can implement the properly as understanding HU play is crucial for a lot of other various games even if you will have to make proper adjustments for that game/structure.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Just finished my second session with Paul, and I have to say - He has given me alot to think about. I'm a slight winner in my current games (115s on stars) and Paul quickly identified some pretty glaring leaks in my game and suggested how to easily correct them. He is a great coach that can really explain things articulately. He is also a super friendly guy who genuinely wants to see His students improve their games - it's always helpful having someone in ur corner.

I would highly recommend His services to anyone who wants to improve their HUSNG game.

Thanks Paul.

Cog is a really good coach and a lot of fun to work with. He is able to break things down and really takes time with your questions. I am not a HU player but his lessons have helped me a ton.

re: Spin and Go coaching with Cog Dissonance

Hi all,
So it's taken some time to post here after receiving coaching from Cog, but here I am. Cog coached me about 2-3 months ago and I received a total of I believe 4 lessons. What I think I benefited most from was Cog's unique ability to help you adjust your play according to what type of villain you are up against. Adjustments are huge and Cog certainly knows what he's doing and is very good at making sure you understand him and a good communicator.

So anyways I guess I'll post a graph. Cog helped me out somewhere closer to the bottom and it's been a steady climb since. I will add that I do think practice time and reviewing your sessions are paramount to improving, but Cog can give you a big push in the right direction.

@all those players who had coachings with Cog:

how many hours do you recommend?
I play the 20s and would like to improve my game.
I am good in the basics, so good enough for the 10s and 20s but wanna go to the 50s and 100s.
heard a lot about people paule led to think way more about their game and so on.

how many hours with Cog do I need to significantly improve my game?
will 3-4 hours do it? or more than 10?
