Re: Providing MTT Coaching at all stakes

I feel like this thread needs to stay on top, so here is a part of my story.

I was a avg mid-stakes reg and decided to up my game to move up in stakes. So i took a lesson-pack with mlagoo. It was in March of this year.

On top of the sessions, Matt is always there to talk about spots/questions, is a great guy and i had way more advices than i expected. Following them (and with good work), i had great success this year, as i made 100k$ profit since then. I have no doubts most of those results come from what Matt teached me, the rest being luck/run good.

Def. a great investment, my only regret is not making it sooner, so dont wait and join the list of his students !

Re: Providing MTT Coaching at all stakes

Hey guys,

So one of my New Years Resolutions was to basically bust my ass a bit harder this year just in terms of keeping a full workload, not having as much unproductive time, etc. So in that effort, gonna lower my price for a bit (I would guess it'll stay this low for any sessions booked over the next month or so? But not sure.), to $150/hr. Will have a mod edit the OP to reflect the change. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Re: Providing MTT Coaching at all stakes

I had a HH review with mlagoo a few weeks ago. I got lazy and never posted in here. I ended up shipping the 75 6max the very next day using a lot of the concepts we talked about and avoiding spots where I was getting myself in unnecessary trouble.

I would definitely suggest his HH reviews, especially at this lower rate.

Apart from that, I wanted to copy and paste this e-mail I sent to an old student of mine which basically just explains "what I do":

-----

So in terms of what I actually do, this is pretty much it:

First I'll send you a MTT strategy outline, which broadly covers almost every concept in MTT play. This is just meant as an introduction and a reference for beginning players to make sure they aren't straying too far from good, solid play, but it helps experienced players as well to be reminded of fundamentals from time to time.

I also have just finished creating a resteal study, which outlines profitable 3betting ranges given various opening ranges and positions. I think this is very useful, although depending on what level you are at it could either be over your head or elementary. But this will be available to all of my students.

Then in terms of the individualized coaching, I think it's best to start off with a HH review, which consists of me going through a tournament where you went deep hand-by-hand, and picking out specific hands where you made mistakes, and then translating those into more generalized leaks that you can plug, and ways you can plug them. Some of this will require homework on your part -- for instance, a comment I've made to almost every one of my students, who are almost universally pushbotting far too tight, is to get their hands on SNGPT or SNGWiz and spend some time getting comfortable with profitable pushing ranges (and I'll talk about some strategies to reach this comfort level quicker and more effectively).

But on top of that I'll be giving advice on every hand, and this advice is really always going to be tailored to your skill level. Some of my students are at the point where they have the fundamentals down, and they need to be thinking about when and why their opponent's opening and 3bet ranges are changing, or finding spots when they can two-barrel profitably, whereas some students need it explained why limping K9s UTG with 12BBs isnt profitable. It's just student-specific, and by the end of the first session I usually have a pretty good idea for where you're at, and we can move forward from there.

After that, we can either do another HH review if you're interested in that, or we can do a live-skype sweat session, where you play and describe your thought process to me as you make each decision, so that we can really get down to the nitty gritty of your decisionmaking and make sure that you are approaching the game in the right way. All the hand advice in the world isn't going to help if you're just taking it at surface level and not changing your approach to thinking about the game and every hand you play. Additionally, after several students expressed interest in it, I've also recently started conducting a Skype-sweat session where you sweat me, and I just talk you through my decision-making during a hand. So that will be available to you as well.

That's about it. My rate is $150/hr (although I do offer discounts for bulk hour purchases). Let me know if you're interested, and let me know specifically what times work for you (typically the first session is 2 hours -- an hour spent on my part reviewing the HHs, and then an hour with you going over those notes and discussing them with you, answering your questions, etc. I'll also always e-mail you my notes about it so that you will always have access to them. Thanks for reading and let me know if you're interested.

-----

So yeah! If you guys are interested just send me a PM (and if you're a new member and can't do that, just make a post in this thread with your e-mail address). Coaching (and getting those great messages from students telling me they just binked a big score) is one of the most fun and rewarding things I've been able to do through poker, so I'm looking forward to working with you guys.
If you ever decide to give away a free session of coaching for free give me a shout.. cheeers

Re: Providing MTT Coaching at all stakes

mlagoo coached me a couple years ago when I was just getting my start in MTTs. He has a lot experience as a player and a coach and was able to help me patch up some leaks in my MTT game. He can help out with a lot of the little things which add up to a lot of value left on the table. His prices are good for someone with such experience and success as a coach and a player and he is easy to understand and get along with
