I'm coaching again! For those who don't know me, my results are fully searchable on sharkscope under mersenneary for FTP:
I've developed a new coaching plan that I'm throwing my energy behind and am really excited about.
My main frustrations last time around were the logistical hassle of scheduling sessions, the “pay for a full hour and then it's over” nature of traditional coaching (that's often not at all in the best interests of students), and the fact that I really didn't like taking a couple students and then turning others away. It felt like there had to be a better way that made it more worth my time and even more rewarding for students. I also really didn't want to jack up prices to $200-$500 per hour (and $2000+ for packages) to match the increase in my success and become completely inaccessible to the majority of students who can't pay that much out of their bankrolls.
Here's what I've come up with in response to this. If you sign up to get coaching from me, here's what you'll get:
1. One session per month of “group coaching” - an hour-long Skype session with other students (grouped by stakes/ability level, typically with a size of 4-8 students). This will be very structured – I'll ask in advance for what you're interested in discussing and prepare accordingly – but will also have an open/conversational piece to it. You'll learn from other regulars at your stake as well as getting premier quality coaching on whatever you most want to know about (and what I think you really should know, as well). I'll also record all the other sessions from your month and you can have those too.
2. One month of access to a special forum on HUSNG.com that I am devoting to meeting the individual needs of my students. Here, you'll be in the company of other players serious about getting better, and I'll be able to answer questions and give help on my time with no worrying about scheduling precise times of the day (a big bonus for me). You'll be able to ask me anything you want to ask – post questions about specific hand histories or about general theory, and I'll be able to respond to you in full and with feedback – an ongoing conversation, not just the “pay for an hour, and you can pay for another hour if you need more help” model. You'll also have access to special strategy threads illustrating certain points (including a few butchered hands by the “pros” at the recent NBC Heads Up tournament!), my recommended reading and viewing lists of what's really worth studying, and pay-by-the-month access to me and other players who are serious about talking strategy and getting better. Last month, the forum had over 1000 strategy posts in it.
New to May, I'll also be offering enhanced packages with private elements: If you want some private live sweats or full tournament HH reviews as part of your package, feel free to add them. I'll also be taking some private coaching on the side, which you can PM me about. The basic FastTrack program starts at $325 for the month of coaching.
Unfortunately, the staking plan turned out to be mostly unsuccessful last month, so only flat rate plans will be offered except in rare circumstances - PM me if you think you might be one.
