THEORY: Roshambo - Dealing with a Maniac
I have had multiple opponents play a reckless style against me recently and I'm wondering how to handle it. They do not seem to have any strategy behind their play.
For example (best of 3 match):
Game 1
Hero: Throws Rock
Villain: Throws Scissors
Hero wins (1-0)
Game 2
Hero: Throws Paper
Villain: Throws Scissors
Villain wins (1-1)
Game 3
Hero: Throws Paper
Villain: Throws Scissors!!!!!
Villain wins Match (2-1)
How do I adjust to someone who is just constantly throwing the same object??? It seems like whenever I switch to the object that would beat the object he is repeatedly throwing, he switches up on me that very throw.
I'm sure most of you are going to rip me apart for the lines I took in this game. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: THEORY: Roshambo - Dealing with a Maniac
you gotta remember that they play any 2 cards, atleast almost any 2, inlcuding J2 or so.
if you see a flop you have to look at it different.
OOP, checkraise alot more. in position try to valuebet your good hands. if he keeps on coming is good.
how do you adapt vs someone who bets anything? play tight, you will see that folding 65s vs him is going to even out when you hit toppair with A10 or K9s or so. so focus on that more. toppairs go up in value, and play your SB tighter, bet/fold more cause limping is dead money now even more then vs a normal opponent.

Re: THEORY: Roshambo - Dealing with a Maniac
throwing paper in the second hand was the biggest mistake here. Your right that he probably wont throw scissors again, but I think it's unlikely that this villain is going to throw Rock. Therefore the obvious decision is to throw scissors and hope for the chop, or the occassional win, and it also gives you the information on whether or not your opponent is playing this maniacal style, and if he is you can just play small-ball and destroy him, as his style is very transparent once you figure it out.
Best of luck learning to deal with this, it took me a while, but once you get it down you can really step up your game and make it super-profitable,

If villain throws paper a% of the time, scissors b% of the time, and rock c% of the time with a%+b%+c% = 100% , then your strategy should be to throw scissors a% of the time, rock b% of the time and paper c% of the time. You never need to deviate from this strategy for a,b and c fixed, unless your opponent decides that his strategy is not working.
The equilibrium strategy is attained for both players for when a=b=c=33.33...%

Re: THEORY: Roshambo - Dealing with a Maniac
nah you must deviate from GTO if u find such a profitable opponent imo, to get the most possible value out of him and just concentrate on making MAXev decisions before he hit and runs you obv. You should balance your lines a little tho because he may find out what u are doing and readjust if are throwing rock 100% of the time for example.
