Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

Nice work. I'm trying to understand the changes:

It seems the "Real Poker" options just activates the bottom slider to see the top and bottom % - correct?

I don't quite follow the new rows with the preflop raising ranges. Are they related to the rows above, or are they just independent calculations? I'm sure it is simple, but it just isn't clicking in my head. Can you provide a walk through of an example? That might be something to add to the page - examples of using the concepts.

Also, I like the addition of the sliders, but I also like being able to key in effective stacks and BB - is there a way to have both as an option? I'm by no means complaining about a great free tool - just offering a thought.

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

yep, 'real poker' is just for the regular opening/calling ranges (ie not nash or sage) - it's based just on the % slider at the bottom and ignores the stack size & blinds slider. It's the same thing as PokerStove when you select a range for a player, so set one marker to 30% and it highlights the top 30% of hands based on strength. The strength of a hand was calculated by running it against all possible other hands on all possible boards (I did try running each hand just against the top 30% & top 70% hands, but it made no real difference to the ranking). It has two markers so you can adjust both your SB and BB position ranges.

Change the radio button to 'Nash' or 'Sage' and it uses the top two sliders (effective stack and blinds level) & shows your shoving range in dark red and your calling range in light red.

The preflop raising range is based on the blinds level and those two drop down combo boxes (which start on 30 & 50). It assumes that while deep you open with 3bb, then as we get more shallow you move to 2.5bb, and then to 2bb. Commonly the consensus seems that these points are when the effective stacks are 50bb and then 30bb (ie 3x above 50bb, then 2.5 for 50bb-30bb, then minraise for less than 30bb stacks). I added the comboboxes so you could change those threshold points as some people seem to prefer 40-70. I dunno how useful that is really (can you tell I play husngs?).

It uses the current blind slider and gives the table for the whole range of stack sizes. I suppose it could use the stack slider and give it exactly for just that stack size, but you might as well see the whole range at one go so you don't have to mess around with sliders after every hand.

Was that clear as mud? Perhaps I should add some help on the page itself - I was trying to keep it as uncluttered as possible (but too vain to take off my website header lol).

Should be straightforward to add textboxes so you can enter the numbers directly. I'll have a go later. I'm open to any other suggestions!

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

I know this is a super-old post, but my calculator was broken. Actually not broken, just that I was hosting the old domain with a dude and he didn't pay the bill.

I moved it over to a new domain, you can find the calculator at http://husng.teamstr.com/

It would be really cool if one of you crafty mods could update all the references to husng.swon.gs to reflect this.

Also it's not fully tested, just slapped it up there, but should be okay. Let me know if it's not.

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

Hi, this is my first post. Just wanted to thank this guys for their work and for sharing their knowledge, I liked the excel calculator a lot, but it makes mistakes with SAGE, so I think I'm going to try the web of sejje for now, and I hope it helps me in my attempt of leaving microlimits . Thanks.

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

Thanks for the awesome resource Steve and LLuke, I know it's been here for ages but only now am I getting off my butt and utilising it

I'm working through some of the 3b shoving spreadsheets and I keep getting different answers with my own calculations compared with the numbers in the spreadsheet tables.

If I plug in 1k stacks at 25/50, villain MR 50% and calls a "Loose" range (25.5% according to the spreadsheet and Stove) then my numbers all seem to match the ones in the tables.

However, I'm getting differences in all the other predefined categories because of differences between the spreadsheet values and PokerStove values.

'Very Tight' in the spreadsheet is 5.3% of hands but when I manually input the range into Stove I get 4.7%

'Tight' shows 9.3% as opposed to 9.5% in Stove.

'Normal' is 14.3% vs 15.5% in Stove

and 'Very Loose' is 44.5% vs 44.2%

It means that when I'm manually working out my equity vs the given ranges I'm getting a different number than the ones in the table. If I change the formula in cell B8 will it correct this or am I making a noob mistake on my end?

Also I know this is thread isn't husng specific but I think most would agree it belongs in the husng forum if a mod wants to move it

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

Give me a second to have a look at this -- I'll get back to you with an answer soon.

And yea, this sheet is more applicable to SNG than cash. Except, of course, for those of you who like playing ratholers

EDIT: Figured it out -- when I put those ranges in, I believe I confused the [something]s+, and without the s. Like for Very Tight, I put in AQos but not AQses, not the other way around. Your numbers are right, but this won't take long at all to fix.

I do want to release a new version with a couple new things soon. This includes the whole SAGE issue (but seriously stop using SAGE lol).

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

v2.11 is out now -- if a mod can edit the OP to change the links to this, I'd be much obliged:

Download here

Included is a new feature that lets you test to see how well you know the Sklansky-Chubukov table! I will be trying in the near future to do a similar thing for the 3-bet shoving, but that's a bit more involved.

If there's any bugs (there probably will be knowing my track record), let me know.

Have fun!

I like it ty

One question about the quiz... do you think it would be better to think in BBs instead of SBs? It would be much easier to remember imo, and maybe more efficient?

Re: Pooh-Bah Post: The Endgame Calculator

S-C values, as they appear on the raw table are measured in small blinds. Though, if it's easier it's not too difficult to have it written in BB instead. I'll put that in on the next revision.
