I've been thinking of going to 888 poker. I've been thinking about it for some time and keeping an eye out for some good first deposit bonuses, but what really caught my eye was the rake at tables up to 6.4$ Hyper Turbo.

They rake 6.66% at 1.6$ games (1.6 + 0.1), 6.66% at 3.20 (3 + 0.20) and 6.25 (6 + 0.4). I've heard the competition there is a bit softer, but how beatable is this rake anyway?

I've been playing the 1€ games at iPoker (770) and the rake is also 6% over there. I never even noticed, since I read at husng.com that it is 4.8%, but those stats must be old since it says the games are 1$ + 0.5$ and all the games that I find are in € (at least Hyper HUSNG)

I guess stars with their (1.44 +0.6 $) is the lowest you can get.

Can someone answer why are higher stakes raked much less than low stakes? I know this is everywhere since I played NL2 before on stars and remember earining 100$ and paying 30$ of rake.

Stars is best I've played on when it comes to rake (I've played on iPoker, 888 and Party).

Higher stakes rake less I would guess since the site is content to take a smaller % of a larger BI. E.g the 500 turbos on Stars charge only 2% rake but this amounts to $12.50. Also, since players' ROIs get smaller and smaller this high, Stars knows to keep the rake lower so that the players keep putting in volume whilst still beating the game.

BTW I remember iPoker being terrible, having a 20% rake at the <$5 games, making them unbeatable.

You should be able to get far better rewards on iPoker than 888.

888 should be the last site you play out of these three, their rake is far higher.

888 certainly has soft opponents, but so does iPoker, so does Carbon Poker (Merge Network), so does Black Chip Poker (Winning Network), so does Bovada, so does Microgaming Network, and most of those (except possibly MPN) has lower rake than 888.

Heck, PokerStars is going to have plenty of really bad players at the lower levels, it's not like the $3.50s are shark infested waters, at any of the lower levels, 95% of the good players will move up as soon as they have sustained success.

Sites with higher rake at the buyins that you play should be avoided, it gives them incentive to get their rake in line with the industry standard. It also rewards sites for making their rake competitive/lowest, which is nothing but good for all players in our game.

With a decent ipoker deal these days you can clear at least 60-70% rb, so if you have a good setup it will be raked less than stars. Playing stars for traffic and reasonable rake is also fine. Avoid 888. Pretty much what chiry said.

There are still rb offers for ipoker? I know there were people saying they have 50+ rb on ipoker a few years ago.
