[Husng] Beware of Chopping With Other Players on PokerStars

PokerStars has recently changed their rules and they do not allow "chops" (the splitting of the total prize pool) between two players at a two man table.

Note: This has nothing to do with 4 man games, those are still allowed to operate as they have been.

Recently a player named dmoney731 on PokerStars has been accused of agreeing to chops with players and refusing to send the money to them after the game. At least four people have reported problems with this user. Only one, to my knowledge, has received a refund from PokerStars. The issue is being worked on by PokerStars now.

If you have any questions about this, you can email PokerStars.

I'm posting this in order to alert the forum, to avoid any more players losing money to this new rule.

I'm also suggesting that PokerStars make this rule change more visible. The rule change is announced on the 2nd page of a rotating ad in the lobby. Many users have not even noticed this rule change.

I don't see the benefit of chopping. Aren't you just losing money to the rake?

If they are equal in skill then they lose the rake anyways, but chopping reduces the variance and saves them time.

yeah, but playing with equal or better player now and then keeps the game sharp and could improve your game which is good in the long run.

I have a question. Lets say I chop with that dmoney321 and win a flip. Is it ethical to not send him his share but to send it somebody from 2+2 he owns money?

Think about this!

Dmoney wins the flip 50% of the time and you don't get your money. Best case, you deal with emailing Stars for awhile and get your money back eventually.

You win the flip the other 50% of the time. You steal his money and give it to somebody who was owed money from Dmoney. Now they will end up receiving their money sooner or later, and you'll have to get your money back from them. Dmoney also has a chance of getting his half back by emailing Stars.

--

It doesn't make much sense. If you want to do anything, play and beat him. This isn't a situation that requires dirty tricks to get back at this guy. Just email Stars to support the players that got screwed here, and if you feel you are better than Dmoney, next time you play him just feel good that you're doing your part to make an unjust world slightly more fair.

Same thing is going on with Desmo88. I emailed stars and here is what they had to say. I found another forum on here about him and attached that to the email I sent out today so there is no way they can deny what he's doing.

I'd imagine that he's going bye bye and stars would re-emburse me

Yea, keep emailing Stars if this has happened to you.

We won't start any chain email yet. I think it might be counter productive towards getting dmoney removed from PokerStars. We'll give security a few more days to sort this out before we start moving as a group in high volume.

Re: [Husng] Beware of Chopping With Other Players on PokerStars

I just mean that it's counter productive to volume email stars asking for somebody's head when the likely result according to support is that he will be banned for ripping at least 4 people off.

If Stars doesn't handle this situation in a few days, we'll make a new detailed thread asking for the forum to send in chain emails about this issue. But I don't think there is a need to do that if Stars comes through. They've been aware of the situation and I believe security is currently reviewing it. I just want to give them a few more days before we get all riled up.

Stars has always been really fair, so I completely agree with you on this. Give them time I am sure they will straighten it out.
