ll cool j is an insane MC and has done a ton for developing music as whole. that's why i put him tn my list.
and you shouldn't skip all the times i say that mu\y list is subjective and im missing a lot of my favourite rappers, and obv. I will not be mentioning all the great artists, just because to do so will be silly. i named a few to make a point.
Yeah they got tons of money, im not arguing with that. Im arguing that they just dont create anything meaningful, which is lolbad. DUCY?
and they are pop performers, not rappers. I dont say that is bad by itself(it is for me though, but I do not want to impose my opinion on the mass public), but it is bad for rap, because if all that we get now is these pop performers saying they are rap, and 90% of the population believing it, than that actually becomes rap, because the definition itself is changed. This is the big problem for me, nothing else.
dont say those songs are rap when they are not, because you are affecting real rap in this way much like chinese/turkish products affect western market.
Dunno what you meant with the eminem thing. Im a big of Eminem, for a big portion of my life he was my favourite performer. I didnt know much about rap back then, but nevertheless... I still like his old work a lot, but his recet work is so bad that it's not even funny. All i meant when posted this was that he was so just damn good and now he is so just damn bad...
and yeah... i agree that this went beyond the point where it had a meaning. I think I made my point(one more time asking people to abstract from taking my words so literarily).
What I tried to acomplish is to show people that real rap is not what they think it is. Which did not turn very great, because the people I refered to listened/liked real rap music, but did not mind/even liked what rap music has become to and that was where I started an argument that it's not good to over-commerisialise rap music.
I really think it was a good discussion with some dope songs posted. All are 10+ yrs old though
and dont get me wrong - if there are some songs that newborn rappers just kill it - please post them, I will be really happy that I can listen to contemporary rap and like it. But i've made that argument a lot of times to a lot of friends who are a lot like the poeople that I discussed it over here - they know a lot about rap music, but now listen to RnB and drake&co and they couldn't give me good songs that compare to the old hits.
ps: it's no surprise that he didn't mention any new age rapper, is it?

and seriously - what exactly is lifechanging money?
